Saints winning streak correlated to change in turnover battle

METAIRIE, La. ― Check out the statistics in each of the past four games for the Saints and you’ll find one common theme – no turnovers.

In three of the past five games, the Saints have won the turnover battle.

And, according to coach Sean Payton, that’s “significant.”

It was one of the points of emphasis the coaching staff challenged the team to turn around during the bye week.

“I do think opportunistic-wise at the stretch when we had the bye we really challenged our team to do a better job with the turnovers both offensively protecting the football and defensively taking it away,” Payton said.

Under Payton, the Saints are 20-0 when they don’t turn the ball over.

We are our own worst enemy. Don't turn the football over and we can beat everyone.

I agree, we could beat anyone if we dont turn it over...even the Packers!

You'd expect a decent record when you don't turn the ball over but 20-0! That's outstanding.

Really, this is surprising? Turn ball over = lose.

Gimme a more interesting stat, like % of women in stands highly relates to wins. It may be correlation without causality, but worth playing up and possibly expanding the dome to accommodate.

Yes, we are winning the TO battle, but really aren't generating more TO's, we're just taking better care of the ball. We had 1 takeaway in two weeks, and that was Porter's meaningless pick at the end of the Lions game.

This is one of those stats that you can really hang your hat on!!
