Rams | Warner Would Be Major Cap Hit If Traded, Released - from www.KFFL.com
Tue, 2 Mar 2004 08:49:54 -0800

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams QB Kurt Warner is scheduled to receive a $1.25 million signing bonus Wednesday, March 3, followed by a $4.75 million base salary for 2004. If Warner is traded at any time in 2004 or if Warner is released before June 1, the Rams would take a $10 million salary cap hit for 2004. If he's released after June 1, the Rams would take a $4.6 million cap hit for 2004 and a $6.7 million hit for 2005.
Cardinals | Looking For Bulger? - from www.KFFL.com
Tue, 2 Mar 2004 08:42:36 -0800

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Rams tendered an offer of $1.824 million to restricted free agent QB Marc Bulger on Friday, Feb. 29, meaning if he signs with another team, they must compensate the Rams with a first- and a third-round draft choice if the Rams chose not to match the offer. It's unlikely any team will increase the Rams' offer, but the Arizona Cardinals are $19 million under for the 2004 salary cap and are certainly capable of forming an offer that the Rams could not match.
Can anyone reconcile these two news items? I'm stumped.
But if Martz is trying to deal Warner and Bulger--then maybe he's trying to trade up? If Martz is in fact trying to trade up, then we simply don't have any choices. We have to go get Eli. It would be unconscionable for this organization to let Eli fall into the maniacal hands of Mike Martz. Some things we simply cannot allow. But I promise, if we rescue Eli from this madman, Eli will take us to the promised land.

Rams--Madness I say!

My own personal By The Numbers:

17: The number of teams drafting ahead of the Saints.

10: The number of teams drafting ahead of the Saints that desperately need a quality QB.

4: The number of teams that probably wouldn\'t be interested in drafting Eli Manning because they have a quality Qb or drafted one with a 1st rd pick recently.

0: Chance that the Saints will trade up to get Eli at the number 1 spot.
