Vikings' Headlines
I was curious about how the Vikings keep losing all these games, but people say they are always kind of close to winning, that the scores aren't really that bad. So I randomly went through Google and picked out the headlines from actual news stories about every Vikings game so far. It kind of tells the story of their season:

Vikings squander lead, lose opener to Chargers
Vikings build hafltime lead, lose game to Bucs
Lions erase 20-0 deficit, reach 3-0 for first time since 1980
“Matt Cassel hit Dwayne Bowe for a 52-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown pass, and Ryan Succop was perfect on five field-goal attempts as the Kansas City Chiefs held on Sunday for a 22-17 victory over the Minnesota Vikings..”
Peterson powers Vikings to 34-10 win vs. Cardinals
Devin Hester leads Bears to rout of Vikings
Rodgers helps Pack stay unbeaten, top Vikes 33-27
Vikings beat Panthers in rookie QB meeting
Rodgers, Packers thump Vikings to stay unbeaten
"Hue Jackson watched his Oakland Raiders overcome a serious injury to receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, a costly turnover by running back Michael Bush and, in Jackson's eyes, some unfair treatment from the officials to remain on top of the AFC West."
Falcons continue to soar after holding off Vikings
Broncos, Tim Tebow rally to beat Vikings 35-32
Lions barely beat Vikings on final play

Living in Vikings country, I'd say the Vikings have either a really bad 1st half or 2nd half, depending on the game. Or the turnovers and penalties do them in - either very early or very late in the game. The stress involving getting a new stadium isn't helping them or their fans either.

Also, their special teams is suspect so Sproles could have a big day.

Look at all the losses by a TD or less. This team could easily RAM us if we don't play well. This is their 2011 Superbowl.

If the Refs don't hog-tie him!

Sproles has a coupon for a free run down the sidelines. The Vikings need to honor that! LOL
It's just good business.

The Vikings have to be pissed over the NFCC game two years ago. The Saints also beat the Vikings to start the season in 2010. For obvious reasons, that game was super hyped and the Vikings hated to get beat by the Saints again in a game that was watched by many many people.

I recall some annoying purple peder eater fans on this site that don't come around anymore. I wonder why?

True, I agree, but look how many of those losses (I counted 8 by looking quickly at box scores) involved the Vikings having the lead at some point and then ultimately losing the game, or as the earlier poster noted, them not playing a complete two halves of football. I think the Vikes will give the Saints a dogfight, for sure.

But if this game comes down to a sixty minute dogfight, or needing a scrappy late comeback from behind, by one team or the other? You have the Vikings' trend of imploding and losing games when they have the big lead, or not being able to come back all the way from behind....and you have the Saints' recent trend of hanging onto their lead during borderline garbage time, or winning in tough finishes....then if it comes down to the last-minute chance for a game-winning drive, you have Brees and Ponder, put them in your hands and weigh them, put those two on the scales, side by side, see which one you like better in that situation.

The Viking are the best team in the NFC with a losing record, if not for breaking down they could easily have a winning record. We will have to play good to beat them. Right now they have nothing better to do than rain on any team they play and would love to pour some of their misery on us. Our O-line has to keep Brees clean, their front 4 is pretty good. I think this is going to be a really good game and probably alot closer than a lot of people think. They are a very good team that has had a bunch of bad luck.

Hey if we dont come out & give our best game then it says a lot abut our team - basically it says we dont deserve/want to go very far in the playoffs.

We have a lot to gain form winning AND a lot to lose. THey have nothing to lose either way, so...
