Brees only needs 304 yds to break Marino's record!!

And the best part is he will do it against the falcAints on MNF!!!!!

Week 15: What we learned

SaintsBro 12-18-2011 08:19 PM

304 yards is kinda like Drew ordering an extra piece of toast with breakfast.

Cory9289 12-18-2011 08:19 PM

We can break the record and sit him week 17 8-)

QBREES9 12-18-2011 08:20 PM

Can't sit him week 17; we want that #2 seed...

dizzle88 12-18-2011 08:55 PM

Hopefully steelers can do us a favour by beating the niners and then it's up to us to take care of business

If we sit Drew week 17, Tom Brady will pass him and hold the record at the end of the season. Drew sacraficed the record in 2009, I would hate to see him do it again.

halloween 65 12-18-2011 09:41 PM

I want him to get it, but I want him healty for the playoffs even more. Also depends on how the chips fall on if he gets any time off before the playoffs.

OldMaid 12-18-2011 09:45 PM

He'll do it. He can break that record and should be allowed to do so for his personal record.
DB is a team player first .
Because of that, we fans would like to see him get his personal record.

AlaskaSaints 12-18-2011 09:54 PM

Playing a football game does not make Drew Brees unhealthy. He's a fine-tuned machine that needs to run all the time.

If you don't' believe me, just ask him.

I saw that.... I also wonder how much more ahead of Tom Brady he would be IF he had played the 4th quarter against the Colt and if he had finished this game. Makes ya wonder huh.

I'm not in favor for sitting him and even if he breaks it vs Atlanta play him vs Carolina.

I'm worried about his contract though afterwards

breesfan27 12-18-2011 11:03 PM

How exciting! I see him breaking the record next week. And I will be there in person to watch history being made!!!!

This!

Brees is a winner because he never quits, he always finds ways to make himself better and he's a true leader. Great times for us as Saints fans! WHO DAT

The only way it happens is if the 49ers lose both of their next two games against the Steelers and SeaHawks. The Steelers are really motivated since the Ravens loss last night opens the door wide open for them to get the AFC #1 seed, and the SeaHawks have to win out and the Lions lose out to get into the playoffs. With the Lions playing the now surging Chargers and a week 17 showdown with the Packers in Lambeau, the Hawks actually have a chance if they can find a way to overcome the 9ers.

The Saints will have a 1000 percent better chance of winning the SB this year if they get the bye. Only two playoff games; a possibility of hosting the NFCCG; at most only one road game; and a week off are all boosters to their chances.

As long as #2 is available to the Saints and they have not clinched the slot, Brees should play. If that's until the last play of the Panthers game on New Year's day, Brees should play. If #2 becomes unavailable, or the Saints clinch the #2 (as #1 is already out of reach), then and only then should we talk about resting starters.

We still need to win the division. We are down to one game at a time, one goal at a time.

I'll be watching the Steelers/9ers game with great interest tonight.

How awesome would it be to break the record against the Clowns in a blowout!!!

Brees didn't organize all those workouts and even foot the bill to watch games from the sideline.

LBCutta 12-19-2011 09:40 AM

I cannot stand the resting players before the playoffs! (PLAYOFFS!?....lol) I mean we are in a dog fight for the 2nd seed. Say the 49ers lose tonight and win out. We beat ATL next week, rest Drew and lose week 17. We lose the 2nd seed! We cannot afford to rest starters this year. Besides remember that year The Giants won the Super Bowl? They didn't rest starters the last week against the Pats! They lost the game but I believe it was a key factor in them winning the SB.

I agree with you here, keep Drew in week 17 until the Saints know for sure that they have locked up the 2 seed, then and only then should they take Drew out of the game

SmashMouth 12-19-2011 10:26 AM

Drew may also be in contention for MVP as Aaron Rogers faltered up bit against KC. Drew's got him in yards, and his 5 TD performance placed him within spitting distance of the TD lead. Drew is on FIRE!

73Saint 12-19-2011 10:35 AM

Why can't we get his contract done? This scares the SH** out of me, and I get a little pissed every time I think about it lately.

AlaskaSaints 12-19-2011 10:57 AM

If you're NOT scared for the future of the Saints, you SHOULD be.

Beyond this year, of course.

Gonzo 12-19-2011 11:33 AM

Phins fan here (...). While it's sad to see Marino's record go down, it was bound to happen eventually. Good luck to Brees! Couldn't happen to a better person or a better player.

And good luck the rest of the year. I'm pulling for a Saints Super Bowl.

st thomas 12-19-2011 11:34 AM

i'm sure the clowns are thinking about that record also, because if there thinking we will be 1 deminsional for drew to get the record we will pound the ball down there throats.

Euphoria 12-19-2011 11:43 AM

I usually care less about all time records.

Who holds the most All-purpose yards with his shoes untied. I mean do they matter... NO. Rings matter.

But this one I hope and be glad Brees gets. We don't have many records like this anyways. The only one that stands out is the longest field goal.

RaginCajun83 12-19-2011 12:05 PM

I really want Drew to get this record and then pass Unitas streak for games in a row with a TD pass since all the talking heads said niether record would fall. Drew gets these and he's a lock for HOF

saintfan 12-19-2011 12:51 PM

Frankly I think he's already a lock for the HOF. I'd like to see him get the Unitas and Marino records so I can listen to all the talking heads justify why he's yet to win the MVP. It's a farce.
