Amazing stat on Darren Sproles
 

Took me a second to wrap my head around that one for some reason lol

If the Saints signing Sproles doesn't win FA Signing of the Year, then they should throw that award out!!!

That CB Houston signed is also a serious contender.

That is certainly amazing.

He has fit in well hasn't he. I'll take a check down almost always on a pass play, players like Sproles make a simple check down dangerous.

You guys are going to hate me, but I'd like to see him a little less on punts and kicks because he is so valuable. Not knocking him, just want to keep him healthy.

Beyond that, he's overdue for another breakaway. Be nice to see that happen on the opening kickoff vs. Atlanta.

Stats like this can happen, because sometimes Sproles is the hot route and well-covered and gets tackled for no yardage ... i.e. if Brees throws the ball to Sproles on a failed screen and he gets tackled for -4 yards.

And this solidifies the comment by Gruden (I think) that passes to Sproles are like long handoffs.

Watch when he runs, he knows when to go down. He'll lean to the ground just before the defender can really hit him. This is a big part of why he's able to stay on the field injury free. You can tell it's something he's honed over the years being so small and it's a skill nobody really talks about but very critical to his game. The only thing he lacks is Reggie speed but that's ok because Reggie lacked every other skill Sproles has brought to the Saints.

We win The Brees signing was the best. This one also the best.

Sproles takes a hit well....

BUT - I wish he was not used as much in punt/kick return duty.

STILL -All in all I wish they would not have published this stat.

OR I hope SP sees this & works Sproles into the plan in a completely different way!!

He already has :) ... Sproles TD catch on Sunday came on a circle route out of the backfield and he caught the ball about 7-9 yards downfield ... great route running by Sproles.

But it's not noticeable because of his quickness and the "speed" at which he hits the line of scrimmage. Reggie's speed was only showcased a handful of times while with the Saints. Sproles' is showcased almost quarterly..."hands" ful. I don't ever recall Sproles being run down from behind. That's speed enough for me.
