Saints Most Dynamic Offense Ever?

1 Attachment(s)
Total yardage may be the most overblown and inaccurate formula to gauge the potency and lore of an NFL offense. The 2010 Chargers were the latest example as they finished as the league's No. 1 offense yardage-wise last season -- and missed the postseason.

Give my statement above, I won't claim the 2011 Saints are the greatest offense to ever play football considering they're on pace to Brees by the Rams' "Greatest Show on Turf." I'll ignore how New Orleans is on pace with only two games to pass Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Mike Martz and the rest of the turf burners for the most single-season yards by a team in NFL history.

I'll wipe that silly thought out of my brain. What I will throw at you is this: this Saints offense is the most dynamic offense in NFL history.

Before you start rabidly foaming at the mouth screaming about the 2007 Patriots, 1998 Vikings, all of the Bills' Super Bowl-bound teams, all of the 49ers' Super Bowl-winning teams and a slew of other worthy candidates, read the definition from Dictionary.com of dynamic: "Pertaining to or characterized by energy or effective action; vigorously active or forceful; energetic."

All of that pertains to and characterizes the Saints offense.
Again, total yardage isn't the end-all, be-all of offensive greatness. It sure doesn't hurt the argument, though.

I can't help it, it makes me foam at the mouth. It also puts a smile on my face and makes me proud to be part of the Saints nation. We are a damn good team.....

I'd say using 3 HBs, a FB, a TE, and 4 WRs consistently is more that the 49ers used under Montana, Fouts or Marino used, or the Rams. Drew usually hits 7 to 9 receivers a game...most of these other O's used 2-3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 HB, and 1 FB.

That is more a sign of the times than anything else and a lot of other NFL teams like the Packers and Patriots also spread the catches and carries around greatly. It helps when there are more spread and dynamic offenses in college so that NFL teams have higher quality skill players to draft.

I imagine that if Marino and Shula were in today's NFL they wouldn't be throwing deep to Clayton and Duper all the time, it would look more like a spread offense as well.

Dynamic is just the word I was looking for. Now if the defensive secondary could become dynamic we'd be sitting in high cotton.

Yeah I agree... who gives a crap.

All that matters is that you win Championships not that you have the best roster of any team in the league.

WIN or go home.

I think its import, because NE,NO, an GB basically have the exact same teams. Elite explosive offenses, but bottom dweller defenses.
The team have different weaknesses, but all have elite QB's.

WE lack a turnover game, which could be really bad vs either, GB beat us with turnovers.
But, its nice for us and the boys to know that our offense may not be elite, it may be the best there ever ways.
Gives our boys confidence and makes the other 2 teams pray they don't get us in the playoffs.
