Quote:

On the personnel side, QB Aaron Brooks may have improved in some statistics from his previous years but he still seemed to lack the ability to take over/lead the team when they needed him to most. When you have a RB like McAllister going for over 2,000 total yards, the quarterback position receives no pass when it has a supporting running game to help him out.

Brooks is under contract through 2007 and his base salary remains reasonable this year at $2.75 million. Next year, however, it takes a hefty jump to $5.5 million and continues to grow: $6.25 million (2006) and $7.25 million (2007). Entering his fourth year as a full-time starter, Brooks will now have to take his level of play to yet another level if he hopes to lead the Saints to the Promised Land - or even the playoffs for that matter.
That is interesting, in a disturbing/irritating/nauseous sort of way.

I smell the need for a trade.

The simple fact remains that for no better than Brooks is, the franchise has to start thinking about what it costs to keep Brooks and his lackluster play around. The other important aspect is that a team might be willing to trade and try to sign him to a new contract. If we keep him, we are going to eat his deal and still have 7-9 to show for it. There aren\'t many worse things than signing a mediocre QB to a high dollar deal.

We need to trade him NOW while a team like the Chargers is still willing to assume the cost of having him. The one thing we can bank on is that Brooks isn\'t taking us to the promised land.

Does anyone remember any instances where we lined up at with a two tight end set, and Brooks would audible at the line that would move Conwell to the fullback position? The reason why I am asking is because we all know that Smith is not a running or catching fullback, but they are stating that Conwell can play TE/FB/HB, and he\'s got the hands for screens out of the backfield. Just a thought...

one thing that interests me in this article:

\"With only Rodgers a potential starter that could depart via free agency, the Saints find themselves in relatively good position at the linebacker position. Re-signing Rodgers was a major plus, and if they had not been able to, they would have had to have looked towards the free-agent market or draft to bolster their depth\"
