Ok, so you\'re not getting just a bit annoyed that our management seems to be wasting their time with players we either don\'t need (brackens), or players that will ride the bench (this guy)...instead of going after a CB or a LB? All of the LB\'s are still out there, but the CB\'s are drying up very quick. If we don\'t go after one now (instead of wasting time with this trash) then we are going to be stick with an Antrell Hawkins starting.

I\'m a little annoyed, but not enough to complain about it just yet. The way I look at it is, there is still time to make some moves, none of us truly know everything that is going on down in Saintsville, and my complaining wouldn\'t change anything, except annoy others on this board.

That is correct!!

I like the idea of Woodard... I mean really the best fit on our d-line is a guy like Grady Jackson, but without the laziness or attitude. If Sullivan, Grant and Howard are all healthy and playing, we really don\'t need another pass rusher.

C\'mon BnB, what are you talking about? B/c that plan has worked so well for us in recent history. What happened to Hand, Jackson, Chase, Ford, etc. again? Oh, they all got dumped, that\'s right. I agree that LB and CB are more important that DT, but that\'s not a reason to sign trash at DT just for the sake of signing someone. Listen, I don\'t care about this guy one way or the other really. They\'ll draft one anyway. What I care about is our lack of action in the FA LB and CB markets.

Gotta say that I do not really see all that much to be excited about with the thought of Cedric Woodward coming over to the Saints .

First things first :

The N.F.L. Bio has him listed as a DE .

98 Cedric Woodard

DE
Height: 6-2
Weight: 320
Born: 09/05/1977
College: Texas
NFL Experience: 0

So he was probably converted to the DT position cause he could not stay away from the pasta .

And secondly and the most irritating thought of all is :

Is this the guy Norman Hand replaced ????

If Norman ( not good enough ) Hand beat this guy out in Seattle , I am not impressed .

Upom further review :

Woodward did play in games the whole season and made enough stops to land him in the top 50 players at his position in tackles . But he seems to lack the speed to get to the quarterback . The best place to stop the run has always been in the backfield , would think the Saints would want to get some pressure on the quarterback up the middle .

Interesting tidbit:

Patriots | Interested in Woodard? - from www.KFFL.com
Fri, 5 Mar 2004 07:51:14 -0800

The Boston Herald reports because the New England Patriots signed free agent DT Cedric Woodard (Seahawks) to an offer sheet last year, it\'s logical to assume the Patriots may show some interest in him after losing DT Ted Washington via free agency to the Oakland Raiders.

if the pats were interested in him, then the guy has to able to play....

Maybe. But the fact that we dumped Hand and this guy played behind Hand doesn\'t bode well for him. Besides, New England is where players go to blossom. New Orleans is where they come to fatten up and die - especially Defensive Tackles.
