Mitch actually he landed on his Helmet, the defender didn't lead with it.
I agree either call them all or don't call those type of hits at all.. This is Football.

the refs are confused as ever with all the added crap calls they have added in the last couple of years itself they are just mistified and clueless. its coming t'm telling you that they will have replays soon on illegal hits. mark it.

I agree with this. Big difference with helmet to helmet vs. shoulder pad/helmet to the back.

The rules were designed to stop concussions via helmet to helmet hits.

That hit could have caused serious damage to his back. Whether it be legal or not, it was a highly dangerous tackle. I bet if he didn't get up it would still be a no call. It's a clean hit, but a dangerous hit.

Clean hit!! If he went lower he would have flipped him and his head bounced off the ground, any higher he could have really did damage to his neck {kind of like whip lash or worse}, the reciver was lucky he got hit where he was hit, also what does the defender let him do, catch the ball, I think not.

I was thinkin' last night wasn't too bad. We still got our obligatory roughing the passer call, but other than that.... I bet the Clowns forums are crying about it though.

Considering the refs didn't flag Wheatherspoon for 15 after he speared Lance Moore when he clearly went down to the ground with an injury and did not attempt to get up, or didn't call roughing the passer when whoever that was wanted to take Drew's helmet as a souvenir on that sack, etc, let's call it even.
