Brees leads Brady by 190

Drew Brees (a.k.a. NFL MVP - screw the "experts") = 5,087
Tom Brady = 4,897

Something tells me Brees plays at least a half next week - even if the 9ers are winning big...

saintfan 12-26-2011 11:53 PM

Yep. I was thinking the same thing.

Rain is forecast for the Patriots game; may not be a lot of passing by Brady

Srgt. Hulka 12-26-2011 11:57 PM

Drew plays. Record stands for another 30 years!

I doubt that he may even surpase his own record before he is done. Todays nfl is nothing like it was when marino set it. Todays nfl is built for passing and it will continue to be more geared toward the pass in thefuture. I hate all these rule changes.

They showed a quick stat during the game, I can't remember it exactly but it showed that the average yards passing in NFL is only 20-30 yards higher 2011 than what it was in 1984. So really the difference isn't as big as everybody tries to make it out to be.

Seeing how the Saints are on the pace to break the NFL record for offensive yards in a season I would guess Marino had a lot worse running game behind him, I don't know really how that affect things.

UK_WhoDat 12-27-2011 04:23 AM

The mighty Drew has surpassed Marino but it is the total at the end of the regular season as everyone is registering SEASON record. So the Brady angle applies.

Drew plays and the seasonal record stands for the moment. I think Drew, Brady and especially Rodgers all will get close over the next 5 years.

Yep. And many need to understand that, rather than critiquing the performance. (And in every sport something changes - be it equipment, science, technology - but we just go right on applauding the achievement, rightly in my view).

The truth is Marino ran that offense and it was not the place to be if you were a RB.

iceshack149 12-27-2011 09:42 AM

If the NFL gets it's way the league will be playing 18 games soon. This record will not last 27 years like Marino's record did.

But Brees is awesome and the team deserves the attention. What makes it more sweet is it was a huge win over the Falcons in a blowout! Just like the first game in the dome after being displaced for a year. Poor Falcons! On MNF again!:bng:

Euphoria 12-27-2011 09:50 AM

You maybe right the record won't stand that long...

Drew will probably break it again.

I think they were right when they were discussing the record last night on MNF. Its a tough record that a QB has to average x amount of yards per game. For now on any QB that has a shot at the record is going to have to be on a bad team in order to do it...

The Pats are locks, I don't see Brady playing much unless the mad hoodie wants that record for Brady, and still who knows if he could get there. If Brady plays he will get past Marino but unless Brees don't play at all I think he is safe.

Just Say NO to....
CRYBABY BRADY!!!!

Please don't let it happen Coach!

This, and he also plays safe.
Throw it away, hold if necessary, lots of quick 3-step slants, screens, dump-offs etc...

gandhi1007 12-27-2011 06:06 PM

Breaking the record against the Falcons was just the icing on the cake. :-)
