Interesting comment from a Falcon's fan board...

I know the easiest and most common thing to do is to say our talent is inferior, particularly the offensive line, but I’ll just have to disagree with that statement. All the responsibility lies at the feet of the coaching staff and their inability to scheme and develop their players. A look at vaunted Saints OL that just hung 45 on us…………

LT — Jermon Bushrod – 4th rd
LG — Carl Nicks – 5th rd
C — Brian de la Puente – Undrafted
RG — Jahri Evans – 4th rd
RT — Zach Strief – 7th rd

Having great lines or superior talent doesn’t mean you have to have 1st and 2nd rounders everywhere, it’s more about how they’re developed and, more importantly, how their talents are analyzed, schemed for, and used.

I guess I knew this, but seeing it made the posters point!!!

It's a true comment from the falcons fan

What I like about us is that we get the player that is going to produce in our offense when given the chance, not a 1st rounder that's got all the hype

Pierre Thomas - undrafted
Lance Moore - undrafted
Marques colston - 7th round
Chris ivory - undrafted
And all the O line and where they were drafted, it's not about draft position, it's about how you execute and how you fit in, our scouting team has learnt that a long time ago and it's worked wonders for us over the past 6 years

Payton has created an environment where you are rewarded for productivity, not hype. Contrast that against what we had with Jim Haslett where veterans (or guys Haslett liked) got preferrential treatment and playing time. Not only did Haslett's approach force inadequate players into the starting lineup, but it demotivated younger personnel to win a starting job.

The Saints are built around Brees. If he never came to NO then you'd probably see those receivers as backups at best. Brees has brought out the best in them.

As we all know, the Saints also have four of the front seven, and two of the four DB's who were 1st rounders!

Well when your GM sounds like a bottle of vodka, do you really expect to excel draftday?

The Saints have traditionally drafted horrendously, especially in the earlier rounds, but have developed some amazing talent from the later rounds. Nicks, Evans, Bushrod and Colston would be my standouts. Thomas and Moore as undrafted would be two others.

We have a hell of a lot of high draft picks on D which is not all that impressive!
