Marques Colston needs to get paid!

This guy has been playing spectacular all season, he needs to get a new contract he deserves it.
It took him like 30 minutes of playing time to get 145 yards and nearing the end of the first half when it looked like we were trying to get a FG, colston gets behind coverage and catches a 44 yard TD with like 7 seconds to go.
He is our best receiver by a mile and he's only just getting started

TheOak 01-01-2012 05:29 PM

Who are you letting go to pay him?

lynwood 01-01-2012 05:30 PM

Can't pay everyone. Who do you not pay?

Payton may be banking on AA stepping up if Colston leaves

This is my though. Man he came up big today.

Arrington has the same physical makeup as Colston, with some more playing time he could be Colston's equal...

QBREES9 01-01-2012 06:14 PM

I wonder if he will see any time next week.

dizzle88 01-01-2012 06:18 PM

Id rather not rely on arrington to "become" a colston like player though, he's a lot skinnier than colston and I'd rather have the proven player who has been here for 5 years and is not constantly injured, which Arrington always is

WhoDat!656 01-01-2012 06:19 PM

Colston has been injuried a bit in his career also

True, Ive been wanting Arrington to break out since he got here and had a great preseason, but I'd just take the guy whos got 5 1000 yard seasons and around 30-40 TD's than waiting for Arrington, id love to see Arrington step up I really would, but you can't replace a guy like colston

|Mitch| 01-01-2012 06:31 PM

depends on how much Colston wants; AA can learn quick if Colston wants an astronomical amount

CharityMike 01-01-2012 06:34 PM

Man he had a great game! Makes it a real tough decision for sure. His hands are unmatched by many in the NFL much less our team. Real tough choice.

Rugby Saint II 01-01-2012 07:03 PM

He's one of those players that you pay.

QBREES9 01-01-2012 07:08 PM

He's one of the core players. I hope he a New Orleans Saints for a long time.

TheOak 01-01-2012 07:50 PM

It is not a question of value, or how good he is or how much you like him... Who is taking a pay cut? Salary cap means you have to take from someone...

That being said he does get the dropsies from time to time, and Drew makes anyone with hands look brilliant.

FA is going to be interesting
QB Drew BreesNew
WR Marques ColstonNew
WR Robert Meachem
DL Aubrayo Franklin
CB Fabian Washington

Colston has one knock on him injuries.

Was not paying him ever on the table?

WHO_DAT_CAT 01-02-2012 01:49 AM

At one point today, he had 129 on 6 catches. His performance this season has been exceptional.

He didn't make Shockey look brilliant.

But, to be fair, I will always remember Shockey's one-handed sideline grab in the SB season.

Talking about one handed grabs, Grahams catch yesterday was just ridiculous, looks almost like he don't have to give effort to haul it in.

I would let Pierre Thomas go before Colston, I would let Will Smith go before Colston, he needs to restructure his deal anyways.

Cory9289 01-02-2012 06:25 AM

I really don't get the idea Drew can make anyone into Colston. Maybe a big name guy, but not someone like AA in my opinion.

Colston takes across the middle passes that sometimes make me cringe for what will happen.

Brees is great, but the Colston-Brees connection is one of a kind. Today in the Panthers game, where he was already suspecting Drew to throw a bit off, he adjusted and made a beautiful TD catch. Connection.

At worst, he'll get a franchise tag. I'm confident he'll be a Saint next year.
