Lions fans aren't concerned about our defense

Quote:

You know we hear a lot of stuff about "Gregg Williams Defense", etc. Bunch of crap, TV analyst are always hyping his D, "his blitzes are exotic", etc BS. All I know is his D sucks, they allowed 41 points to the seattle seahawks last year in the playoffs, 31st in the league this year. STFU
Quote:

Williams is very average for a D-Coordinator. Just blitzes a crap ton and is really "creative" and fun to watch. But, I'm not concerned about the Saints' Defense, that's for damn sure.

Its not our defense they should be worried about...

lumm0x 01-05-2012 08:51 PM

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

FireVenturi 01-05-2012 09:42 PM

Aren't they the defense that just gave up 2 thousand yards to a back up qb Sunday?

WHO_DAT_CAT 01-05-2012 10:05 PM

Let's see, if I recall correctly, our defense is the same defense that, about a month ago, held Detroit to only 10 points for almost 3 quarters.

But, whatever. Hope the Lions O-coordinator feels the same way.

489 and 4 touchdowns, and they're not worried about ours; lol

SaintsRule11 01-05-2012 10:43 PM

I look forward to seeing Roman Harper knock Matthew Stafford out of the game in the first quarter.

QBREES9 01-05-2012 10:59 PM

Just like Willie sez from Swamp people. You think you can down here and do it. Good Luck to ya.

Oh come on, you're quoting the "roarreport"? Man, one thing I learned this season is that the Detroit message boards do not necessarily represent or accurately reflect the larger fanbase views and opinions . . . it's just internet. We respect the Saint's defense . . . Stafford threw for 400+ on you, but he only got the 1 TD, that's a problem for us. Only converting 2-11 on third down, that's a problem for us . . . nah, we're plenty concerned with your 'D' . . . we just think we fixed our discrepancies and can beat it now . . . ya'll lucky you got me to clear these things up for you . . .

go Lions.

What exactly did you "fix" between a month ago and now? Did Megatron suddenly grow five more inches since early December or something? Don't say "we're doing better" as an answer, because the Saints D is doing better as well...I am just curious to know what you think has been fixed. There were penalties in the last Saints/Lions game, sure that was a factor, it got talked about, but BOTH teams had plenty of penalties. In fact, your only touchdown drive in the 2nd half last time, was heavily assisted by a Jabari Greer penalty that put you into Saints territory. It might easily have been a 31-10 or 31-13 game, if not for that unfortunate Saints penalty.

SloMotion 01-06-2012 10:42 AM

  • Last I checked, we stopped the human growth hormone therapy with Calvin, so "no", he hasn't suddenly grown five more inches since last we met.
  • I won't say, "we're doing better", how 'bout, "we've grown a lot and come together as a team the past six weeks"?
  • We're healthy, got our red-headed stepchild Suh back and we've seemingly addressed the lack of composure issue that seems to plague us from time to time. Don't remember if Stafford was still wearing "the glove" or not, but I'll throw that in there, he's "glove-free". Plus, we have exhibited flashes of a run game and we got Bell off your practice squad to let us know where all the good places to eat after the game are.
  • Both teams had penalties? Dude, we had 11 for 107yds, you guys had 3 for 30yds . . . that's not even apples & oranges, that's coconuts & grapes! Anyway, hopefully we won't be assaulting any referees this time around or interfering with your DBs covering us so much.
  • I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Jabari Greer for his assistance on our touchdown drive . . . if I could get the team's mailing address, I'd like to send him a fruit basket or something . . .
  • 31-10, 31-13, whatever, anything less then 31 for us is considered a loss, at least by NFL standards.

It's not a lot, but that's our story and we're sticking to it . . ."Da da dum da dum da da . . . Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity, To seize everything you ever wanted in one moment, Would you capture it or just let it slip?" . . . team plane is in the air, we're coming to town boys, and we're coming to play.

go Lions.

Saintswrath 01-06-2012 12:14 PM

I love how a team that failed to do anything last year uses last year's analysis on us, if we applied what last year statistic's was to them they wouldn't be a playoff contender.

Listen Slo, I don't want to be a buzz kill .... but that's how we felt last year right before the Seattle game.

Beastmode 01-06-2012 02:01 PM

If our defense is a tin curtain then Detroit's is an even more maleable material...pewter comes to mind. Enough about our D. There are teams far worst than the Saints in the Playoffs.

I've been hanging out over at the DEN this week. The closer it gets to the game the chippier they get. Man, I thought we had a persecution complex! I hate to say it because I like that board but after the game we're going to hear a lot whining and accusations of dirty play and referee favoritism coming out of Detroit.

WHO_DAT_CAT, I appreciate your concern and will definitely take that under advisement, seriously . . . it carries more weight coming from a Saints' fan then anyone else . . . but you can't kill the buzz . . . I fully expect the Saints to win, but for one brief, shining moment, we will be on the field, in the playoffs, facing a SuperBowl caliber team . . . win or lose, at the end of the day Saturday, I'm a Detroit Lions fan, so it's still a pretty good day . . .

Boutte, I've been hanging out here all week and it kicks the **** out of any of the Detroit boards . . . ya'll make me wish I was a Saints' fan, but the Lions were given to me by my father, as they were given to him by his father and as I have passed them on to my son . . . I can only be what I am. I'm not a big fan of the Detroit boards. Before this season, I lurked around the boards, never really participating because some of what you're pointing out . . . I didn't feel they accurately represented the pulse of Lions' Nation . . . I still feel that way . . . next season I'm playing all 'road games' and just hanging out in the opponents' message boards . . . I wouldn't spend too much time in the Den, it'll only 'dumb' you down . . .

go Lions.

Well man, if by that you mean that you are dealing with grouchy/negative/surly/sky-is-falling Lions fans, well we have been there before, and I know what you mean. It takes time to re-educate, to re-tool people's thinking, and turn a fan base around to see the light and embrace winning ways. We STILL have a few people who freak out about stuff that happened to the Saints years ago, expecting it to happen again. They think that at any moment the elegant 4-horse carriage with livery driver that is the New Orleans Saints, will turn back into a pumpkin and rats...not likely to happen...You just have to be calm, rational, and teach them that it's a process, a turnaround, an ongoing thing. It takes a long time to build a team. I still kinda have this grim feeling for you, that the Lions are going to run into a buzzsaw tomorrow evening, probably like you've never seen before, but you do seem to realize it's a building thing and putting pieces together....take that to your boards and preach the gospel! You can be the one who is ahead of the curve.

. . . we're inside, out of the cold, have everyone healthy, have nothing to lose and have hopefully regained our composure . . . other then that, IDK.

. . . I don't 'smoke' either, it's a honolulu blue & silver" high . . .

go Lions.

. . . no, most the time is just the opposite, it's the bandwagon/slappy fans who are so starved for success they can't look at their team objectively and view any less then glowing critique of the team as a full scale attack . . . Suh can do no wrong, Fairley is a ProBowler, Kevin Smith is an AllPro running back, it's not our guys - the refs are against us . . . it's seeing the world through honolulu blue & silver goggles and they can't accept any accountability for our professional athletes. Just go on a Detroit board sometime, you'll see what I mean . . . WhoDat!656 will tell ya' . .

go Lions.
