I think the NFL playoff game with the most intrigue is the Detroit Lions at the New Orleans Saints. Two passer with more than 5,000 yards playing against each other in the playoffs. Never happened before. Between Matthew Stafford and Drew Brees, the final score could be NBA-type numbers for both.

In honor of the great year of Drew Brees, here are five quotes about him:

1. "At 211 degrees, water is just scalding hot. But at 212, it boils. It's the significance of one degree. Everything about Drew Bree's preparation is about that one extra degree."

-- coach Sean Payton on Drew Brees

2. "The San Diego Chargers have lost their mind."

-- Loreane Tomlinson, mother of Ladainian, on the Chargers trading Drew Brees

3. "Drew Brees was the perfect guy for an imperfect situation."

-- Mickey Loomis, Saints general manager, on the leadership Brees displayed in helping New Orleans after the devastation of Katrina

4. "The Saints made the right decision signing Drew Brees -- not just in terms of his arm, but because of his heart and mind."

-- NFL Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk

5. "Brees is a champion who can overcome anything."

-- running back Pierre Thomas

One other small thing. The Chargers are idiots. ANYONE who'd let go of nanohercules and the most accurate QB on the planet is clearly a dumbarse, en masse.

Thanks! Keep it up Bolts! They kept Norv, so... yea. Dumbarses.

Drew never ceases to amaze me. He has the genetic make up of our Founding Fathers. Ethical. Committed. Honest. Caring. Damn talented. Leader. The list goes on. Brees for President.

Is he under contract yet? I hope we don't have to add "greedy" to that list of traits.

The following is pure "educated speculation" on my part...but I think I, if noboby else, am about to find out just how "great" these 2 guys, Sean and Drew, are. There's no doubt about the talent and genius of both of those 2 guys...but where my doubt lies is how both are affected by the almighty dollar.

Everything that we didn't want to happen in Dallas happened. Romo chokes again. JJ out of the playoffs again. Having people posting pictures of him picking boogers probably isn't going to help his disposition.

Anyway...the stage is set. Payton already lives in Dallas and has it in his contract that he can break his present contract to go to work for JJ. Drew has not re-signed yet. I know you guys see where I'm going with this, but I also acknowledge that I could be way, way off base. Time will tell, and I hope my speculation is utter nonsense.

Edit- Oh, yeah...one more thing. Winning another SB would be tremendous, but I'm also speculating that Drew and Sean might say, "Cougar...you're looking good. I want Viper!"

Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

Guess they can add letting Sproles go to that list.

Like the kids on facebook like to say, "Where's the dislike button?"
Is that a quarterly guess for you SaintLB?
Anyway, with the "Rags-to-ritches" story regarding the Gulf South and Drew Brees "obviously" loving the Whodat nation, your unfounded and darkside speculation is indeed utter nonsense.

This talk about Sproles brings to mind another question: has there been any confirmation on what the additional picks related to the Reggie Bush trade to MIA are?

I mean Reggie had a career year with the MIA (1,086 yards rushing & 296 yard receiving with 7 TDs combined) and if the picks traded was performance based, I guess it might be good news for the Saints?!
