Depending on how things run, I think we have basically two plans……
PLAN-A
1-MLB Jonathan Vilma, UM (no other MLB is worthy of #18)
2A-CB the best left of Keiwan Ratliff Nathan Vasher, Keith Smith, Joey Thomas
2B-WR the best left of Devery Henderson, Ernest Wilfork, Michael Jenkins, Rashaun Woods

PLAN B
1-CB the best left of Dunta Robinson, Chris Gamble, DeAngelo Hall
2A-MLB the best left of Darrel Smith, Dontarrious Thomas, Rod Davis, Courtney Watson, Richard Siegler
2B-WR the best left of Devery Henderson, Ernest Wilfork, Michael Jenkins, Rashaun Woods

I\'d prefer Plan \"A\" if that is, in fact, how things unfold -- further I\'d like to see DC resigned for fewer dollars.

I\'d rather trade down... Vilma will not be there at 18 we are going to have to move up to get him as well as Gamble. NOt likeing Robinson at 18 either I think his value is lower. We can get Hall a few picks lower and pick up an extra draft pick. Sign Gold. We can get a MLB in the second round.

I am starting to get the feeling however the Saints maybe working a deal if not now... to move up in the draft. I like the 10 sport or even 12th, in order to get Vilma if he is there still.

I really don\'t see us picking at the 18th spot.

I agree with this. However, there\'s really no telling who we\'re trading up to get. I could really see Haz pulling a Martz and trading up to #10 to get Clayton or something. The closer we get to the draft with key positions not addressed in free agency the more scared I get.

Vilma will be there for us, look...

10 - texans - they don\'t need anymore LB\'s
11 - steelers - they are stocked with LB\'s
12 - jets - they moved Sam Cowart to MLB, so if they go LB, it will be an OLB.
13 - bills - they are set at LB
14 - bears - one word...urlacher. they are going d-line anyway.
15 - tampa - it\'s possible that they could take him, but I think they have bigger needs
16 - 49ers - they got a solid LB core and have much bigger needs
17 - bengals - their Lb\'s are set, they will probably go corner
18 - Saints - that\'s us

Unless someone trades up for Vilma, which I think is highly unlikely...he will be there for us. There is going to be a run on WR\'s (like last years DT\'s) and he will easily fall to us.

As for the original topic, I like plan A. But I don\'t think we should go WR in the 2nd. We should take TWO CB\'s in the 2nd round. One of them has to pan out and the other should end up being solid depth.

Plan B sux. None of those corners will be there for us, and even if they were...I think it would be a mistake to take any of them. I have said it before, and I\'ll sat it again...these corners are not that much better than the guys that will go in round 2. Remember last year, there are 3-4 guys who went round 2 make a bigger impact than Sammy Davis, the guy who went to the Raiders & Andre Woolfork (all of which were first round CB\'s)...Gamble, Hall & Robinson are on the same level as those three (gamble has major potential, but he needs 2 years to develop).
Then the 2nd round...our first 2nd rounder is too high for Smith, Davis, Watson & Siegler...all of them are late 2nd round to late 3rd round guys. And Dontarrious Smith is an OLB.

BTW, the WR\'s you listed. Woods is probably going first round (probably before michael clayton) and Henderson & Jenkins should go around the time our first 2nd rounder comes up.

#10 to get Clayton? You need to get your head out of LSU. Clayton is probably going to be the 6th or 7th WR taken. Fitz, Mike, Roy & Reggie Williams are the obvious top 4 and Evans & Woods moved past Clayton during the combine.

Strange that sarcasm doesn\'t always translate well with the written word. I was referencing Martz\'s tendency to draft odd players way too high. I was similarly suggesting that is Haslett were to trade up, it would probably be for a player that would leave you saying, \"Why?\"

No, they won\'t. Their Lb\'s are set already. Barton & Hobson on the outside, Cowart in the middle. They will be going after a corner in the first round.
