Halo 01-10-2012 07:04 PM

Jack Del Rio to the Saints????

Just saw on NFL access they're saying Jack Del Rio may come to NOLA if Williams leaves for another position.

Also said he has a home in New Orleans already....

UGGGHHHHH!

|Mitch| 01-10-2012 07:06 PM

what's wrong with Del Rio? His defenses have always been competitive...

saintfan 01-10-2012 07:06 PM

Yeah, I've heard the same. Should GW leave it seems the media thinks Del Rio taking the job is a given.

I'd be okay with that I think.

Halo 01-10-2012 07:07 PM

I'd really rather Spags...

|Mitch| 01-10-2012 07:09 PM

Is it certain that G.W. even leaves?

The Dude 01-10-2012 07:10 PM

I second Spags.

No, not really set in stone. Rumor is Jeff Fischer will try to lure him away and has discussed, but GW also has a lot of control and a sweet situation in NOLA right now.

Go with Fischer and rebuild a team.... or have a chance at more Superbowls....

You make the call.

Belair57 01-10-2012 07:21 PM

gdub stays/

OldMaid 01-10-2012 07:43 PM

I agree with Halo.
Rumors have been about GW leaving since the SB win.
Why would GW leave a made, current top ranking team?
To be HC , and only HC. that would be a good eason , but would he want that hotseat.
GW hasn't said one thing or another ever about these rumors.
He is here. Nuff said until....he speaks.

AlaskaSaints 01-10-2012 07:43 PM

As much as I curse him sometime, I think he'd be a fool to leave given our current talent and propensity.

"Pro-pen-si-tee" Haven't used that one in a while!!!

LOL

Alaska

Del Rio, if that's the case I don't think that would be bad. But lets not bring this up yet.

FireVenturi 01-10-2012 07:56 PM

Even though I don't like jack dill hole, I think he would make a good dc. In which case, he's cool with me.

mighty12 01-11-2012 05:59 AM

If GW leaves.........

I have heard Del Rio would be a top choice in NOLA. He even has a house in the city. What is the consensus on this? I for one think he would be a great fit. He might not have been a great head coach but he has done great things with the Jags defense. I would be all for it.

Luda34 01-11-2012 06:20 AM

I hope GW don't leave but if he Jack may not be a bad fit

Saintswrath 01-11-2012 06:40 AM

John Fox if he loses his HC Job would be a GREAT take for DC if Williams decides to leave.

Seer1 01-11-2012 07:04 AM

I'm wondering about Alabama's DC. Their defense has been on one hell of a roll. If he could bring that to the big leagues....

Fox has the Denver Tebows in the playoffs in his first year. He's not getting fired. But yes he would be an excellent DC.

skymike 01-11-2012 07:45 AM

surely GW has figured out that its a lot more fun to be defensive coordinator for a champion, than hc for an also-ran.

as a backup, I'd be ok with Jack Del Rio. We drafted him, you know.
(86? I remember him picking off Vince Ferragamo in the Dome, who was playing for the Packers, and scoring for the Saints.)

Danno 01-11-2012 08:04 AM

I seriously doubt Gregg leaves, but IF he does, Del Rio would be an excellent chioce.

Spagnolu is headed for the Eagles so right now, Del Rio tops the list. Although I think he ends up elsewhere very very soon.

Euphoria 01-11-2012 09:05 AM

Its SB or I think GW leaves or we fire him.

I think Sean will recruit Gruden over Rio.

Gruden is an offensive minded coach not defensive.

winmill1 01-11-2012 09:21 AM

We are never getting Fox. I want Spags if GW leaves.

winmill1 01-11-2012 09:24 AM

And Gruden wouldn't even be the best OC on our team. He wouldn't leave MNF for head coaching job much less leave to be the coordinator of a side of the ball he doesn't know crap about. I wouldn't mind Raheem Morris as D coordinator.

halloween 65 01-11-2012 10:15 AM

The only reason I could figure out that Gregg Williams would leave is this, he came here and turned us around, pretty much every where he has been he has had really good defenses, so I think if he leaves it's for the love of turning nothing into something, self satisfaction, history. When most coaches retire and time goes on they are forgotten, only a handful stick out maybe he wants to be remembered as the greatest DC in the game. Just a thought.

halloween 65 01-11-2012 10:18 AM

If Gregg leaves I'll take Del Rio he's solid.

FinSaint 01-11-2012 10:37 AM

Spags tops my list if GW were to leave, but it seems that he is going to the Eagles, who I think he worked for already at some point in his career.

If not Spagnuolo - then I think Del Rio might be an interesting choice and one that could end up being a good fit, because he has the familiarity with NOLA and he has been impressive in the defensive side of things.

And like winmill1 stated above, Raheem Morris might be an interesting choice as well, and one I wouldn't be against either. Or Nolan...

Srgt. Hulka 01-11-2012 10:57 AM

OK, enough of this kind of talk. This can wait till after the Superbowl. Lets concetrate on the task at hand. :bng:

I thought about Mike Nolan too because Miami will be cleaning, he would be really good as well.

WISH LIST IF HE LEAVES
1 SPAGS
2 DEL RIO
3 NOLAN
4 MORRIS
and 1a. SABAN

vpheughan 01-11-2012 08:32 PM

Spags? Is he related to Skeets and Dirt? LOL

homerj07 01-11-2012 08:56 PM

Lets argue about it - IF it happens!!

jeanpierre 01-11-2012 09:13 PM

Sean Payton wants a rebate on his portion of salary to subsidize near bottom ranked defense (24th)...

Right now our only defense is Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory, and Darren Sproles...

FinSaint 01-11-2012 09:20 PM

SP was already reinbursed for the salary he gave up by the Bensons.

And a damn good defense that is.

73Saint 01-11-2012 10:15 PM

A couple people asked Why he would leave. Maybe there is considerably more money on the table. Just a thought. I've heard him mention not wanting to go anywhere, but you hear that all the time.

SaintPauly 01-12-2012 04:34 AM

I will wait til the season is over to address this "possibility".... And i hope GW is concentrating on SF, and not the Rams...

Danno 01-12-2012 08:07 AM

Jack Del Rio will be the new Defensive Coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.

Bet on it.
