Exclamation 5 Reasons The Saints Will Beat The 49ers

After dismantling the Detroit Lions last week the streaking New Orleans Saints will head on over to the Golden State to take on the San Francisco 49ers, but despite this being a tough matchup for both competitors, there are five really good reasons why this Saints team will defeat the 49ers in the 2012 NFL Divisional Round.

For the 49ers and their faithful, it has been nearly 10 years since this team competed in postseason play so their presence alone is a big deal, but can they advance to the 2012 NFC Championship Game?

I personally think no.

Great article, but it left me asking, "Only five?" I mean, Brees used 8 different receivers against us, and then Spoles & PT, the offensive line, the coach and I'll even give NO 1/2 a point for their defense, even though they lose that comparison to SFran.

Now, I may be a public school kid, but that adds up to 13.5, unless you want to figure they're all covered under point #2. Too Many Weapons to Account For and point #3. Not Enough Firepower, at which point, we're back to "only five".

Give 'em hell, Saints.

I agree, but I would not at all hold it against him if he don't. If someone ask me to let go of the Saints, I would respectfully decline. He seems like really good people!!

He's showing the classic symptoms, though. With respect to his lineage involving the Lions, he is a very ill man. Terminally ill.

My 5 reasons ...

1) Sproles - I think he will be our go-to-guy in this game. Maybe a few new plays in this game designed for him to make the difference. Plus he wore that Cincinnati Reds hat during last week's promo shots for NBC and that is good mojo cuz Barry Larkin just made the HOF.

2) Morestead - He can help us win the battle of field position versus whoever is punting or kicking off vs the Niners, in what could be a lower-scoring game than what we're used to.

3) It's been forever and we are due for a pick 6 sometime now. Maybe Alex Smith can serve one up for us.

4) Our run defense has been playing a little better this year. We might give up a drive or two, but still I think we can keep Gore and Hunter from destroying us all game.

5) Michael Higgins. Jimmy Graham is great but we should be careful about overusing him. We need someone else to contribute at TE (especially if Moore still can't go) and Higgins has been getting more playing time. Maybe this will be his breakout game. I just gotta pull for a guy from University of Nebraska-Omaha.

NOTE: I actually haven't seen any Niners games this year. Maybe I'll catch one on NFL Rewind. I will admit playing a stout 3-4 defense could be tough this week.

I just can’t see the 49ers accounting for all of these weapons for 4 solid quarters effectively
This is kinda what I have been saying. The game is 4 quarters, can the 49ers really keep the Saints offense (or defense) out of the end zone for that long. I have no doubt, there will be times on Saturday when we will be on the edge of our seats, nervous, where we Saints fans may have to reacquaint ourselves with the unfamiliar sight of Thomas Morestead actually punting the ball...but I am not at all sure that the 49ers can hang for a full sixty minutes.

The Cowboys, Giants and Lions all took the Niners down to the wire and taxed their defense to the limits -- and this Saints team is clearly better and more explosive/playmaking than any of those teams.
