Inside the NFL

Just watched it today. They all picked against the Saints with authority.
I don't blame Warren Sapp, he's defensive minded but Collingsworth and Boomer backed it up with nothing but the playing outdside factor and all the 49ers turnovers. I'll counter with Brees hasn't thrown a pick in the playoffs in 215 passes and the Saints are not prone to fumbling. And unless they tamper with the field it will be optimal playing conditions.

xan 01-12-2012 05:22 PM

I thought they all pick SF?! Did they redo the show?

TopCow 01-12-2012 05:24 PM

Picking a top-five (but not top ranked) defense this year over an offense that has outgained and outscored the most legendary offenses of all time. Good call fellas.

AlaskaSaints 01-12-2012 05:52 PM

Wrong picks just pass. You'll never hear any accountability. I think they are picking against all reasoning with a HOPE that it comes true. That will make them look as if they know what they are talking about.

Add NFL network/Heath Evans to the nose pickers. I say let them all pick against the Saints. I like being under the radar. The sports media is just like the news media. They both like to create turmoil. Brian Billick says the Saints are the best team in the playoffs and yet picks the 9ers. Therefore the Saints are not the best? Well make up your mind already which is it? I wonder what they all will be saying after this weekend? A winning streak of 9 in a row! They are riding a wave which will not end in San Fran.

Heath Evans Picked Against Us??? Wow.....

This game is a 50/50 game in my eyes. I have no beef with anyone who thinks the 49ers may win.

I think playoff experience and QB play gives us a very slight advantage.

CharityMike 01-12-2012 06:17 PM

Like mentioned, I am glad they are all against us. We do better in the under dog role anyway. I don't know just how much attention our players pay to this but I hope it motivates them just a little bit more.

SaintsRule11 01-12-2012 06:39 PM

We will all know the outcome of the game soon enough. Anyway, the guys on "No Huddle" all picked the Saints. And Gregg Rosenthal on profootballtalk.com picked the Saints and he's the only guy who has a clue what he's talking about on that site.

FinSaint 01-12-2012 06:59 PM

Well all four members of the "No Huddle" crew picked Saints over SF.

Faulk, Rose, McGinest and Charles Davis.

NFL Videos: No Huddle: Can 49ers keep up with Saints?

Wow that was good...not because they all picked us to win but because they are previous players talking real football. Not these pencil necks in the media who think they know everything but haven't played a single game.

Hayduke 01-12-2012 07:17 PM

It has always been like this. Even when we won the superbowl the media was all over the fact we lost 3 straight prior to the playoffs. The Saints have always have not gotten the respect they deserve. We will not for as long as we are not perfect.... Even then. It is like if the Browns finally start playing well, it will take them years of winning seasons to get any respect. I think the Saints have to win 2 more superbowls to start being favored any given year.

Ross Tucker thinks the saint will not only win it all but has them as the best team in the NFL.

But if you polled all talking heads 80% will pick the 49ers and if we advance 95% will favor the Packers. It is now and will always be this way.

Tobias-Reiper 01-12-2012 07:19 PM

I wouldn't pay any attention whatsoever as to who picked who. They say one thing one day, a different the next. Sapp himself said on NFLN not 3 days ago "defenses no longer win championships, offenses win championships" and went on a rant as to why.

SloMotion 01-12-2012 07:26 PM

Who is Bradshaw picking? Curt Menefee, Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson, Michael Strahan and Terry Bradshaw, those are the only guys of all those crews that ever has an opinion worth listening to IMO.

go Saints.

Agree TR... it's all a hype machine. Let's be real here, the Tebow thing, the love fest of Romo years ago, it's all about ratings and money.

Last year all we heard about was Skid Britches (aka Shatty Slice or Matt Ryan). He FAILED. What are they saying about him now? Earlier this season he was well on his way to ELITE status. Where are the pundits now? Who eats their own words here?

ELITE=2/4ever

I like those guys too and I think a lot of ppl are picking against us to boost ratings and make the 9'ers appear to be really something, which they aren't. lol

QBREES9 01-12-2012 11:11 PM

We have Drew Brees and you have Alex Smith. Advantage Saints.

WW_Who_Dat 01-13-2012 12:19 AM

People seem to have forgotten that SFran wanted to show Alex Smith the door before Harbaugh got there and taught Smith how to manage a game. Harbaugh's whole philosophy going in was to just show Alex Smith how not to lose the game as QB. The decent season Smith is having is just a pleasant, unexpected by-product of that philosopy and a tribute to Harbaugh's talent as an NFL coach. He will undoubtedly win a SuperBowl or two, Harbaugh that is, just NOT this year.

go Saints.

B_Dub_Saint 01-13-2012 12:11 PM

The weather out here has been nice, especially for this time of year, and Saturday continues the trend. Should be Sunny and 60 and a light NW wind.

Rueben Mayes 01-13-2012 12:34 PM

coupla thoughts

As to who all of the talking heads and so called "experts" are picking, go ahead, give the Saints no love, I'm getting used to it. Hopefully this helps us to stay under the radar and avoid being over hyped like some teams seem to suffer from. Also this lack of consideration will allow the Saints players to play with that edge or chip on their shoulders if they feel they are underrated and undervalued. Prove dem wrong, Saints!!!

I also took a look at San Francisco's schedule this year and it looked pretty weak. I mean there are the 6 games against division opponents and in that weak NFC West it's no wonder they finished with the record they did. Yes, the Niners have a great D and are pretty good against the run but don't we have an even better passing game than we do a running game?

Good luck trying to stop the Saints with their myriad offensive weapons, Niners!!!

aquaboogie 01-13-2012 12:52 PM

All they do is look at stats from the past. Never won a playoff game on the road, can't play outside, can't play on grass blah blah blah. Now is as good of time as ever for our team to shut them all up. This current team has the ability to do just that!

I'd much rather be under valued than over hyped. Under the radar baby..........oh yes!! Stealth mode.

True all Dat!

I say let the game begin because I can't wait.

The Eight Ball says "chances are slim". I've registered to win tickets and fully expect not to win. Should I win I'm there. Otherwise I'll be at home in the East Bay watching on my Plasma.

Better seats for sure. Better beer prices too.
Of course I would sacrifice the great seating and expensive, watered down beer to watch the Saints beat the crap out of the 49ers.

It's a reckoning.
