What happened to PT?

saints offense seemed lost once PT went down. Any word on him?

Budsdrinker 01-14-2012 08:19 PM

Payton said he was alright. I'm sure he has a concussion after that hit. Legal hit by rule but it was cheap.

hagan714 01-14-2012 08:21 PM

ok got his bell run. thats what i hoping. it was a heck of a hit. i was worried about his neck. thanks

I was thinking it was illegal; didn't think the defense could "spear" like that. P.T. did duck into it I guess...

Pierre Thomas getting hurt was a big reason we lost. While Chris Ivory runs over guys, Pierre Thomas is much better at shifting through a defense, which I think would have played out a lot better running on the 49ers defense.

hagan714 01-14-2012 08:31 PM

his loss changed the game plan more than they will ever admit

Danno 01-14-2012 08:36 PM

He was hit like I wish our defense could hit.

Budsdrinker 01-14-2012 08:39 PM

The hit and fumble was the game changer. We probably would've had to settle for 3 but it would have kept the crowd out of it a little bit driving on their d like that.

We have No One on the defense that can hit - No One...

Losing PT was HUGE on so many levels. When Ivory is in it's usually a run, when Sproles is in it's usually a pass. PT is the guy who keeps defenses off guard. We became very predictable on offense. PT can run, catch, and pass block. When he got knocked out we lost our most versatile RB.

Plus when PT went out they put Roby back on kickoffs to save Sproles knowing they would need him more on offense. Roby promptly fumbled a kickoff that would of been fielded by Sproles had PT been in the game

Nah, that hit wasn't legal. San Fran is a big market team, so the league has a financial interest in them doing well, so for that reason, I wouldn't be surprised if Gooddell says no fine. But the fine won't even matter. We needed the freakin' automatic 1st down!
New rule: Illegal hits in the post season that would result in a suspension in the regular season, you lose a 3rd round pick to the opposing team!

Actually.....it was NOT a legal hit. You may not lead with the head or make a hit helmet to helmet on another player. The refs missed that call badly.

Afraid it was legal. Once a catch is made and the receiver establishes himself as a runner, there is no helmet to helmet penalty. It is only illegal on QB and defenseless receiver.

Wrong again. Straight from the rule book:

" using any part of a players helmet (including the top/crown and forehead/hairline parts) or facemask to butt, spear, or ram an opponent violently or unnecessarily; although such violent or unnecessary use of the helmet is impermissible against any opponent."

If the league is concerned about concussions caused by helmet to helmet, then it should be illegal for all players. If not, then stop harping on player safety. I got a feeling the refs were 49er fans today anyway.

OldMaid 01-15-2012 05:54 AM

I agree SBella.

Mardigras9 01-15-2012 08:34 AM

PT was out like a light after that hit. Losing him seriously hurt our offense. Even with that, the 10 points off of turnovers was the downfall.

OldMaid 01-15-2012 10:34 AM

Did he have a concussion?
What about the 49'ers.
It was ugly. Nasty. Low . Cheap shot.
If Saints had done that, I would not have changed my opinion of it either. Legal or not, cheap.
The 49'er who did this, seems he should have had a concussion too.
Concussions are not funny.
