-I'm skeptical Vilma has much left in the tank. His run defense has him looking like a 3rd down linebacker. And even with that, he doesn't make many plays in coverage anymore either.

-Only problem with Will Smith is his contract. Would love to keep him at a restructured rate. Honestly even if we didn't, I'd have no problems keeping him. I find him more productive than his numbers suggest.

-Move Jenkins back to nickel/safety role.

2009 Jenkins was terrible in coverage. Always a step behind and showed 0 playing making ability.
2010 Jenkins showed us shades of a future ball hawking FS... well on his way of becoming an elite player.
2011 Jenkins hits like a mac truck and covers like a deer in the headlights. There's a big problem if your FS covers worse than your SS.

-I think it's time to part ways with Shanle. He's just too slow. The problem here lies that if he's on the roster, we're just going to continue to find ways to get him on the field. That's not saying he's a terrible player by any means, it's just he's better suited on the bench... which won't happen as long as he's here.

-Can't see any way Rogers comes back.

-For financial reasons, and the fact there should be a good market for him, keeping Greer may be an issue. This will probably be his last big contract and Brees/Nicks/Colston are up for big big pay raises. Vilma/Smith/Greer could all be on their way out.

-Promote Dunbar to starting MLB. He's just not suited for the outside.

Can't see letting Greer go. If I had to choose, I'd keep Greer over Colston.

Agree with everything else tho. On the money.

That is what is going to happen, I would like to get a young DT or 2 in the draft. Ellis is done. Vilma is done. Jenkinns has pi$$ed me off all year with his play. We are 3 to 4 players away from having a solid D. Some of our players will be outstanding in a new scheme. This D is pretty young with the exception of a few that are past their prime, if we replace them, we get really young and are able to build on that. Our secondary is ask to do to much, when they are your tackle leaders by a far margin somethings bad wrong, also how much abuse can a person take.

I don't start with who we need to let go I focus on who we need to bring in. Jack Del Rio. If SP decides that Greg can stay then we need a ball hawking safety I would defintely consider moving Malcolm Jenkins back into the nickel cornerback role.

Harper is solid I don't care about his coverage issues because when we had a pass rush is coverage issues never came into question!!!!

I remove or get rid of the following no specific order here!!!!

Shanle - or make him a back up
Rodger - no real help
Franklin - he stays only if we stay in 3-4
Porter - he cant tackle, and unless he makes plays I pull im back to slot corner status with jenkins.
Roby - Special teams won't suffer as much as we suffered yesterday!!!!

Resign brees, resign Nicks, franchise Colston.

I would build around

Martez Wilson I think this is the cornerstone of your new D. Sideline to Sideline LB at whichever position you want him in.

I'll would go right after Asante Samuel from Phili

Defensive Draft not one offensive player

Personally I am fine with all 4 in our secondary. I feel the problems stem more from a lack of pass pressure and our ability to cover the short zones with our LBers. We need to upgrade our D line and our OLB's. Vilma is a very solid MLB. Cam Jordan is a great every down DE but he lacks elite rush speed and moves. He is stout vs. the run and a good rotational player. Rogers is done. Ellis is regressing due to a lack of line threats. Franklin is steady but unspectacular. Shanle and Dunbar need to be upgraded. I think our secondary thrives if there is more pass rush and a LBer who can run with TE's or RB's at least for the first 10 yards.

On offense I think we try to keep this unit together. Colston is a must to me. No one is stepping up to overtake the #1 role and he is very good as a possessional and vertical threat. Upgrade the O-line at C and tackle and we have no issues there.

I like Wilson also great size and speed, tackles well, definatly someone to build around. I want 2 stud DT's.

porter....now there is one guy that I love because of the P Manning pick, and we all know the story there, but he doesnt TACKLE, he tries to push people down, then after the fact always making a half ass attempt at swiping at the ball..its hard to think of him as a problem after winning us a superbowl, but the morning after has me wanting him gone to

Roby: Has been garbage from jump street. He was good as a gunner and that is it. Period.

Colston: Got to keep him. He has come up big so many times you can't count them.

Meachum: Let him go. Does he have speed, yes..but he is not what I thought he would be coming out of college. He looked a lot better in Tennessee.

Strief: Is a good backup.

Bushrod: Needs to move to RT. He has done a decent job at LT but we need better.

Shanle: Do I even need to say it? I would love to be the one first in line to boot him in his @ss right out the door. We need rabbits at OLB not turtles.

Vilma: I want to lean on saying he has regressed this year but I know that he has had a knee injury all year. So I'll put him on the back burner for now.

Porter: I honestly don't know wtf happened to him. He has totally fallen off the wagon or so it seems. Our entire defense has taken a step back. It's not like he is the only one sucking. Is it maybe the scheme? Idk. I say we give him another year.

Jenkins: See Porter.

Ellis: Has to go. He was suppose to be the next Sapp..lmao..that didn't pan out now did it.

Rodgers: Was done before he even got here. Bye.

Smith: Has seen his better years pass him bye. Seriously need to re-do his contract or he needs to go.

Greg Williams: He has run his course here. Mitch mentioned he had a top 10 defense everywhere he has gone except for here. I think he has become such a 1 trick pony, that his "Exotic" blitz's don't strike fear into anyone but our own players that have to execute it.

I think, like many of you, Martez is going to be a beast! I also like Cassilas(sp) but we need some depth.

Porter peaked and is in a nosedive. He's now a liability. Yep, Superbowl hero and all, but he has only had ONE interception since. I'm pretty sure that's true, anyway.

I'm just not feeling it next year, fellas. There will be many changes this year and then we'll have to get used to them.

Yet San Fran changed just about everything, and they're 1 game away from the Superbowl
