I think the talk of a DE should be put on hold. The steal of last years draft will be ready to go after coming off of IR. Greg Romeus from Pitt should have been a first rounder, but his injury was just too much to give a high pick for. He is going to be healthy and hungry in 2012. Also, Martez Wilson showed improvement on the outside. I am leaning more towards an actual cover corner and a big DT so that we don't have to pay both Rogers and Franklin.

LOVE the ideas from this article: Time to look for Brees' heir apparent? - NFC South Blog - ESPN

Kellen Moore? Yes, please, especially after he gets to sit behind Drew for 3-4 years, learning how to 1) Play the position at a pro-level and, maybe more importantly, 2) be a leader both on and off the field.

I know our biggest needs are on defense but Moore seems like a guy that would fit SO well into our system whenever Drew is ready to ride off into the sunset (hopefully not for a few years, at least). It seems like an opportunity too good to pass up.

Sorry bro and please don't take what I am about to say personally. This is exactly why Pat still has a job. How can anybody consistantly come up with such bs to talk about and have people agree?

This is the LAST thing we need to worry about now. It shouldn't even be a thought. Chase has been here how long? Every time we see him (granted it's preseason) he looks decent. he is no Drew but who is.

If we did what is suggested, the unlikely soul will just take over yo-yo duties on the practice squad.

I think Romeus is going to be great, I would like 2 DT's, both starters, our DE's will be fine and 1 big lb. not a lightweight. I'm iffy on the secondary, Quaddus should make a good showing this year, Jenkins better get it together. CB's, I could see 1 more but 1 that is proven in free-agency. New DC could make the world of difference in the secondary. Maybe trade Smith, Ellis or Vilma for picks or db..

Ha! Never, Brother. Just don't call me names like "Falcons Fan" or anything and we'll be fine. :)

I still think the guy has a point, though. I honestly don't know much about Daniels. He seems like a very good backup for us right now; but is the team really going to expect Daniels to just sit for, what, 7 - 8 years (by the time Drew Retires) and then become our starter? For how many years? 3? 4? Why? Because he knows the system and looks good in pre-season? You know who else knew his team's system and looked decent in preseason? Curtis Painter.

I'm not saying Moore is a lock to be our future QB even if he's our pick, I'm just saying it's worth thinking about if he's still around when we have our pick; getting a guy as talented as he is, that seems like he would fit our system so well, so low in the draft might not be an opportunity that presents itself again. He could sit for 3-4 years, benefit from having Drew as a mentor and give us 8 years or more as starting QB when his time comes.

Don't forget we also have Johnny Patrick! we have some very good young talent on D. Just need the right person to teach them and LET them play!

All i know is that we need to upgrade our linebackers and maybe our new defensive coordinator can put something together

Exactly! Last year was different because of the work stoppage, but this year teams are going into the draft knowing exactly what holes need to be filled with rookie talent.

BTW, if the Ravens won't pick up Haloti Ngata's 10M option he'll be a UFA and another good reason to get rid of Smith's and Ellis' big salaries. Probably the best DT in NFL and would do wonders for the Saints' pass rush and run defense.

Only 1 pick, but he flies to the ball. Now, the knock on him is his attitude. He gets flagged for unsportsman like just for not saying "bless you" when someone sneezes. I've seen almost every game, and honestly, at least a third if not half of his flags were complete "let's clean up the sport" BS! Either the hit was like a second after the whistle or a toe out of bounds, or both guys were going at it and he gets the flag. But we also had an over-the-hill coach that been stopped giving a dang. I think Payton can get him to behave. However, because of his rep, teams out of fear that another Suh or Harrison will hurt more than help the team (especially image-wise for teams more desperate to fill seats than win games), I think everyone will pass on him. I saw one projection that said Steelers take him in the 2nd, but I think he'll fall all the way to 4th or 5th, unless he has the world's slickest talking agent. If he falls that far, I say take him.
