49ers Fans - Atrocious

So I have had a night to sleep off the upset. Going from England to San Fran to watch a heartbreak defeat does take its toll but we'll dust ourselves down, get on with it and we will come back stronger.

It's fair to say that my impression of 49ers fans was low before I even got here. Their conduct, language and general rubbish they chat on forums was by far the most immature and generally pathetic I had witnessed of any fans. I did however try to come here with an open mind.

Now bear in mind I have grown up with English football (soccer) notorious for its violence, conduct and generally being more like a warzone than a sporting event.

During the game, I expected abuse and got it in plentiful abundance. Name calling, personally offensive slurs against things like me wearing glasses (yes seriously!) but that was of little consequence. The thing that stood out for me here was more the whining (is that where they got their name from?) on every penalty call or ball spot. Literally every call that didn't favour them, they were at the referees with all manner of language and claiming the NFL was fixing the game.

If that wasn't bad enough, this really stood out for me. How quickly they all got on the backs of their own players after they did something wrong. I don't know who it was but he drpped several passes and he was getting destroyed. Even their defence was getting hounded when they let Brees make a completion. Absolutely pathetic!

So we lose, and then I'm outside the ground. As expected, all manner of abuse about 'F**king off home'. But what stood out here was fans body checking women to try and provoke them! That is unbelievable. It's pathetic against men but against women! Do me a favour! And the coup de gras...

One guy jumped in front of a kid (no older than 10) with his Dad and directed 'Who Dat now b*tch?' straight in his face. Absolutely disgusting.

No class in winning. No class with opposing fans. No ability to back their own team. Worst set of fans I have ever witnessed in pro sports. Any sport. I can only pray that this pathetic bunch of individuals do not end up with a Superbowl winning team.

End Rant.

W. Kovacs 01-15-2012 04:38 PM

They are a reflection of their team. I actually kind of liked the Niners before this game; you know, young upstarts, firey coach, all that.

Their conduct yesterday, though, was so classless it was absurd.

dizzle88 01-15-2012 04:44 PM

They are all hippies and all on drugs, i'd expect it from them. Dont worry we'll get a new D and show them up next time, their victory will be short lived

thebdj 01-15-2012 04:49 PM

I may look at this through 'black and gold' tinted glasses but the conduct of our Saints with the Lions fans after the win in The Dome was superb. I had a great chat with one guy about Jimmy Graham and also about how the Lions are much improved. Very humble, lots of handshakes, very classy from both sets of fans. Nothing doing in San Fran. Horrible.

Hippies don't act like that.

Belair57 01-15-2012 05:02 PM

I had a great experience in San Fran when I attended a game there back in 99 or 2000...forget when it was, to many coronas ago

gandhi1007 01-15-2012 06:14 PM

They were just hating because you were a straight guy. ;-)

SapperSaint 01-15-2012 06:21 PM

Detroit and New Orleans are the same type of people just differnet cultures. Both Blue Collar cities. Workin' Folks, if you will. Both cities gone through, going through and recovering cities.

San Fran and NOLA have only these things in common:

1. Both are States in the United States of America
2. Uh,..... I guess both have a "Rainbow District". Just San Fran lets it cover most the city.
3. I guess thats about it.

Sorry you had a bad time out there brother. But I know the team thanks you for representing the B&G on hostile ground.

Here is the problem; Bandwagon Raider fans jumped their sinking ship and hopped on the 49ers. I'm telling you right now, there is no way the 49ers have that many puke fans. They just adopted the puke fans of the Raiders who are known to be some of the most disgusting fans on the planet.

saintfan 01-15-2012 06:37 PM

Oh yes they do too have that many puke fans. The bay area is chock full of thuggery. The mindset out here is just too damn liberal to do anything about it. Oakland is bad, but they have a devoted fan base that is there win or lose. SF is the epitome of Bandwagon. I'd say the SF fan base is probably worse than Atlanta's.

pumpkindriver 01-15-2012 06:51 PM

I guess the stuff I read on the msg boards that SF fans posted wasn't too far off from their average fan after all. I'm just appalled at some of the things y'all saw them doing before and after the game.

B_Dub_Saint 01-15-2012 07:03 PM

I hope the G Men destroy those bastards!

He would have got decked.

Twice.

thebdj 01-15-2012 09:21 PM

I didn't feel that the animosity was because of bandwagon Raiders fans. I think it was largely alcohol and attitude induced. Oh well, we move on. Here's hoping that we get the chance to knock them out of the postseason at the Superdome. I can enjoy the moment and exercise the class on behalf of New Orleans that I did not receive in San Fran (even though I'd love to be a douche and get up in their faces haha) :)

SaintsRule11 01-15-2012 09:42 PM

I was also at the game. To say the least, a lot of 49er fans are knuckle draggers, drunks, and losers. There was some truly awful conduct. However, all the 49er fans around me were really nice to me and even giving me the occasional high five when Brees made a spectacular play.

I still can't believe we gave up so many yards with so little time left but oh well. If we had just held them to a field goal (or nothing!) we would likely be on our way to a second Super Bowl Championship.

In any case, that will be my first, last, and only foray into a Bay Area sports arena. I don't like being around drunks and losers passing joints to everyone. It reeked of pot where I was sitting and I was offered a joint on two different occasions. I politely declined. I don't have anything against it, it's just not for me. Now that I have seen how Bay Area sports fans behave, I totally understand why fans of other teams want to kill them!

I was there too and can vouch for everything you are saying. The Saints fans were extremely classy (as they are most of the time). I've now witnessed Buccaneer fans, Vikings fans, and Cardinal fans and none of them bothered me in the least. Quite the contrary actually - I found them to be more than adequate. The 49er fans are just horrible.

thebdj 01-15-2012 09:51 PM

@SaintsRule11 - Sorry to hear your experience was equally bad as mine. Although I do take a little bit of solace from the fact that I feel vindicated that it wasn't just me who felt this. Sometimes you question yourself.

Belair57 01-15-2012 10:04 PM

if you guys found the niners fan to be rude...stay away from seattle then

gandhi1007 01-15-2012 10:09 PM

Fuel for the fire. I will make sure to be extra "polite" when they come to the dome next year. ;-)

thebdj 01-15-2012 11:29 PM

Would it be considered bad taste if I held a massive sign up that says 'Payback's Gonna Be a *****!' :)

THIS!!!!

exiled 01-16-2012 02:31 AM

watched it in SF in a room full of Niner fans. They were curtious - knew their football and bought me drinks after the awful last 1:37 of that game.

I had a very different experience.

There are bad fans everywhere. Yes, even in New Orleans. I hope i am never like them.

I hope that we continue to be the classiest fan "bass" ever.

Thanks for a great season - I hope we win an away play off game one day. I remember hoping we would at least WIN a play off game.

Can't wait for August 2012.

WHO_DAT_CAT 01-16-2012 03:00 AM

Hey BDJ, I didn't want to say it....but this is one of the reasons I did not go to the game. I went to the Saints game at Candlestick last year. The 49ers fans were total a$$ holes.

I'm sorry you had that experience -- both the loss and the total d*ckhead, a$$clown 49er fans. I'm so glad Halo kept them off our board yesterday.

There are not any hippies here in the Bay Area anymore. And, if there are still a few left around, they sure as f*ck aren't showing up at football games to be around drunk violent morons.

Given a choice, I would love to be around some hippies with some good weed or gay folks ( with some good weed ) than drunk, slobbering, classless, pinhead 49er/Raider fans.

Budsdrinker 01-16-2012 07:10 AM

I guess taking it up the chute on a regular basis makes you a larger a-hole.

G504 01-16-2012 08:59 AM

I thought the dancing at every kick off was classless. Except for when they went up 17-0, which was way too early to be celebrating, the game was still close after every score. I'm a Virginia Tech alum, they reminded me of Clemson - who got drubbed by 70 points to a Big East team in the Orange Bowl. So hope all the self-back-patting and own-horn-tooting buy you the same thing in the NFL.

iceshack149 01-16-2012 09:38 AM

Is anyone surprised? In the preseason, fans were shot at the stadium in two separate incidents and there were multiple fights there as well. This was at one game.

Yep. And I can tell there are places where the experience can much worse than Candlestick Park.

Nice effort getting to the game, BTW

exiled 01-16-2012 01:28 PM

ummm... I am thankful for the season we had, yes it was disappointing in the last min 1:37.

that said - I for one find it ironic that Saints fans would make such classless idiotic statements about others being classless and idiotic.

The anti Gay remarks in particular - and you live in New Orleans? Please.

Hippies cant afford to live in SF. That was 40 years ago. Now, it is arguably the most expensive city in the country.

Which makes you who are making fun of harmless hippies not only anti alternative lifestyle - but clueless on top of it. Not a combination I would be particularly proud of.

Congratulations 49ers. I am sorry if some folks had bad experiences with some of your fans. I often read that visitors to New Orleans had some bad experiences. I hate that too.

You were long time rivals of NOLA when we were in the "West" together for so many years. Perhaps this encounter will renew the long and hopefully friendly rivalry.

CharityMike 01-16-2012 01:39 PM

This is starting to go in the wrong direction.

TheFaithful 01-16-2012 01:48 PM

I find it humorous that you guys are talking about the "thugs" in SF. Apparently you guys don't live in NO. Also there was only one act of violence that I heard about after this game...that was a Saint fan shooting two Niner fans because he was so weak minded he couldn't take his awesome team losing. After reading some of the rants on this board I wouldn't be surprised if he's a member here.

Aside from some people's personal feelings, you are obviously just saying that the 2 members that were there and went through are lieing. C'mon man get real. Don't come start something that don't need to be started.

TheFaithful 01-16-2012 02:10 PM

I'm saying that there is a lot of derogatory comments about the sexual preference of a city flying around and this board and characterizing SF fans with a lot of childish comments. It's understandable to be upset with certain people or fans but to describe a fan base because of one or two instances is ridiculous. That's what I was alluding two with the shooting of two Niner fans by a Saints fan, and drawing a conclusion of the NO Fan Base on that isolated incident would be the same thing.

papz 01-16-2012 02:24 PM

Agreed and no point of continuing this.
