Look at the top defenses in the NFL
2011 NFL Opposition & Defensive Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com
We don't need cute names. We need a real defense. Rio or Spags, are just names. They haven't been DC's for years now. Who is producing now, not who was great in 1995.
We have a consistent top #10 defense, we can beat anyone. People get so goofy with the names after all who was SP before he created the best offense sense 2006.

There's no way Pagano leaves the Ravens and if we are just throwing names around I might as well say that the Saints should sign Dick LeBeau.
Out of the realistic targets I like Spags, because he was the one who pretty much made the Giants' defensive front into the beast it is today - I would sure like to see the Saints' defensive front get more pressure without having to bring the extra man to blitz all of the time.
If not Spags, I would like to see them sign Nolan over Del Rio, because Nolan is much more inventive in his schemes and has the ability to surprise offenses even in the latter weeks of the season when the opposition already has tons of film to watch and prepare. And best of all, his inventiveness does not involve just coming up with exotic blitz packages like it seemed to have boiled down to with GW.
I also wonder if Sharper would be interested in a secondary coaching position?
