I know I\'m lovin\' hard on Davis lately, but I tell ya, he\'s the real deal. Just wait. We draft him, and you guys can thank me later. Just ask Danno about Davis knockin\' some sense into Andrew Zow a couple of years ago.

Oh yea I’m sold on Davis in the 2nd. I still twitch a little when I think about the Davis/Zow train wreck.
From a selfish standpoint I’m glad he ran an average 40 at the combine. I think it was around 4.7, I forget. But most scouts consider him “football fast. He plays a lot faster than his 40 time would indicate, and his 40 time wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t incredible.
There was another MLB that put up very modest times at the combine, and was also a tad undersized (225 lbs), and he turned out to be a pretty good MLB. You guys ever hear of a guy named Ray Lewis? Well Davis is faster, and weighs a very natural 240 lbs.

I’m officially fixated on Rod Davis or Donterrious Thomas in the 2nd. Moving Cie outside.

1-Hall, Robinson
2A-Davis, Thomas

These two picks should immediately address our weaknesses enough to satisfy most.

Huddle report...
Rod Davis LB Southern Mississippi

Strengths
Rod is the right size for an NFL linebacker. He has very good speed. He is an attacking linebacker, does not wait for the play to come to him. Rod has excellent instincts and great change of direction. He is effective in the passing game and equally as effective in the running game. Rod has great pass rushing abilities. Rod can play all of the linebacker positions. He has leadership qualities and makes the players around him better. He is a team player in every sense. He has very good tackling technique. Rod is an impact player.

Needs to Improve
Rod needs to improve his draft rating. He needs to get a good agent and he needs to help improve the marketing department of his school. Rod also needs to inform the NFL draft sites that he is alive and playing linebacker for a college football team.

Bottom Line
Ladies go to any film of any linebacker in college. I will give you film of any game you want of Rod Davis. I dare you to tell me after looking at the film that Rod is not the best linebacker in this draft. Forget your Miami boys; forget the boys from Auburn, this kid outplays them all. You don\'t believe me? You think I\'m missing a screw? Well, I do not believe what potential agents tell me about a player. I do not believe the marketing people of a college about a player. I do not look at other draft sites and repeat whatever they say just to be one of the guys. I look at film. I look at a lot of film. Rod Davis will shoot up everyone’s draft boards before we hit draft day, but you heard it here first. Rod Davis is the best linebacker in this draft and there are not many impact linebackers in this draft. On my personal board, I list the 1st-round linebackers as Rod Davis, Ted Lehman and Karlos Dansby. The other linebackers that everyone else hypes (including underclassmen), I have serious concerns about and would not select them until the second round. Derrick Johnson of Texas is the fastest, but the worst tackler I have ever seen. So close your eyes, click your ruby red slippers and say three times, “I hope my team picks Rod Davis. I hope my team picks Rod Davis. I hope my team picks Rod Davis.

Leh-man! Leh-man! Leh-man!

Haven\'t done that chant in a while, but my football crush on Lehman may rival that of BMG\'s on Eli...well, maybe not. :P

THE HUDDLE REPORT

Teddy Lehman LB Oklahoma

Strengths
Ted is one of the fastest linebackers in this draft. He is a total team player. He is excellent in the passing game. He has good size for his position and he has leadership abilities. He is a good tackler in space.

Needs to Improve
He struggles a bit in the running game. Takes bad angles and runs himself out of the plays.

Bottom Line
Ted is playing out of position this year because of the injury to Lance Mitchell. Ted is a pure OLB. He is not a MLB. He is one of the best OLB’s in the country. In spite of this, he moved to the inside even though he knew it might hurt his draft rating. He is a great tackler in space. I think Ted is a definite first rounder. He reminds me a lot of Nick Barnett who was a shock pick in the 1st round by the Packers. I do not believe that there is a better OLB in this draft. I know when he starts to work out for teams and they go back to the film of him as a junior, they will see what I see and rate this kid as a first rounder. He will impact the first year on special teams. In the Rod Davis profile, I made an error on my ratings of the LB’s in this draft. I rated Ted as the second best LB in the draft. He is not. He is the third best on my board. Rod Davis, Donta Thomas, Ted Lehman, Karlos Dansby. (That is until I change my mind in another profile). Just kidding!

I\'ll tell you what, I think this guy can turn out to be a ball player. He just has that look and build to him. Seems like he would be a good grab in round two. The lbs seem so evenly matched this year after the first 2 or three. With that said, it seems hard to tell who the best lb will turn out to be. Therefore, I just hope we get the one or two that turns out to be the best out of this class. I feel Lehman is in that mix as well
