They also need a new secondary coach to replace Oden, which isn't a bad thing mind you.

It's about time... The defense has been laying on Brees leg for a long time.

I don't know much about Spagnuola, and I'm certainly not trying to be a wet blanket, so I have to take you guys word for it that he was the best choice for the job. I just hope and pray that Spagnuola doesn't turn into a Spaz-ola!

He'll probably bring in his staff from the Rams and his team of coordinators.

I've been saying all week that Spags was the guy I wanted to be our D Coordinator. Living in NY I got to watch his defense with the Giants when they won the Super Bowl and was very impressed. He seems to do an excellent job at putting d-linemen in positions to get after the QB. Very excited about this hire!

I think he's the best option available but still...we need good players.

Unless we get a couple of outstanding players I don't see much changing. All those bodies GW sent on blitzes and we seldom got decent pressure.
And why is it they can find gems on the offensive side but not defense.
Maybe it harder on defense...I don't know.

That might be a good thing - at least when it comes to the secondary coaching - because Rams were #7 overall in passing yards allowed while Saints were #30. And I think I remember them having had injuries on their starting secondary.

I think you'd be shocked. A few key players in specific positions may be the difference. Much like losing Fujita and Sharper in 2010 changed the face of our defense A WHOLE LOT!

It might just be that GW just didn't know how to best use their potential, although I doubt that is the only reason.
