Green Wave back projected to go in 2nd or 3rd round

This is the third in a weekly series on potential NFL draft picks.

Mewelde Moore is a busy young man this spring, preparing for the NFL draft and working to earn a degree from Tulane in accounting and finance.

With a background in dollars and sense, the 21-year-old running back should be equipped to handle the financial windfall that goes along with being a top 75 pick, where most analysts predict him to go -- in the second or third round.

"I'm taking 24 hours this semester -- five required business courses and three electives: criminology, philosophy and natural disasters," Moore said after his pro day workout Tuesday for NFL scouts. "If I stay on top of everything like I have been, I'll be graduating in May, on time. I've never gone to summer school."

Moore, whose name is Swahili and translates to "He who gets his wisdom, knowledge and strength from God," has left an indelible mark at Tulane.

On the field, he became Conference-USA's career leader in rushing yards (4,364) and total yards (6,505). He set 24 school records and seven CUSA records and joins Stanford's Darrin Nelson as the only players in NCAA history to compile 4,000 rushing yards and 2,000 receiving yards.
