Umm... bye and good luck!

aquaboogie 01-19-2012 06:56 PM

See Ya! Our secondary got worse when he took over for Allen.

WHO_DAT_CAT 01-19-2012 06:58 PM

Is it just me or does our secondary look small compared to other team's receivers? I'm not just taking about Megatron, either. I have thought this for the last couple of years.

It's like that with most teams... CBs tend to be smaller in stature than a lot of the WRs. Most teams have started to scout for the taller ones - as Minnesota did with Chris Cook to combat Megatron who they see twice a year, but unfortunately he tried to strangle his girlfriend, got arrested by the police, and got suspended indefinitely by the Vikes.

I'm really looking forward to how our secondary plays, I think much, much better. Jenkins will get some competition from Quaddus if not beat out. We have a really good secondary they were ask to do to much.

No doubt, I don't remember any of our DB's knocking anyone out like we saw last week.

RaginCajun83 01-20-2012 11:05 AM

About time they started cleaning house on the defensive side of the ball, GW gone, Oden gone. Just need to get rid of Bill Johnson (Dline) Travis Jones (Asst Dline) and Mike Millory (Asst DB) and we are set plus I can't wait to see who Spagnoula brings in to replace these guys because we need any left overs from GW's staff off of this team

SaintsBro 01-20-2012 02:22 PM

Looking forward to seeing the Jaguars' secondary dropping balls that hit them right on the numbers, and leaving 10-15 yard cushions on receivers.

I swear that the dropoff in our defensive backs started with the Tampa Bay game and IN SEATTLE last year, which coincided pretty neatly with Dennis Allen kinda packing his bags and knowing he was on his way out the door... I mean 2010 was not as good as 2009 but to me the real drop off in the secondary happened exactly then, late 2010, right in front of our eyes, and the change was evident in the very first preseason games this year against Oakland and Tennesee, when we started to see those huge cushions on the receivers started showing up. I remember many people here on this forum (myself included) were like WTF is going on.

I hate to throw a coaching dude under the bus like that, but Jabari Greer, Roman Harper, Malcolm Jenkins, Tracy Porter -- we have ALL seen every one of these guys make big plays before, with our own two eyes. We know they can do it. We know they have the talent and potential to do it. So why didn't we see more of it, last year?

(I know some of ya'll are still mad about Jenkins in the 49ers game, but who can forget his great takeaway play in the Cowboys game or his performance against the Rams last year? It's NOT like the dude is not talented.)

Toastmaster on his way to Jacksonville

RaginCajun83 01-20-2012 02:31 PM

I remember screaming at the tv during the Packers game when I saw our corners playing 10 yards off the line of scrimmage but thought hey its the Packers and they have a WR corp 2nd to the Saints so I get it but after I saw it week after week then I knew the coaching staff had regressed back to the ways of Gary Gibbs, good thing is that both the old DC and DB coach are gone so lets see what the new coaches can do cause the talent is there, they just need to be put in position to make plays

Not that I am upset with him leaving....

But what in the H E double hockey sticks is jacksonville thinking? Didn't they even watch any of our secondary play?

I wish there was a "Head Scratcher" icon.

Mularkey - the former ATL DC that went over there - and him had a history which explains why Mularkey wanted him there.

gandhi1007 01-20-2012 09:27 PM

Haha!!! House cleaning has started. Looks like a good start for next year already.

FinSaint 01-21-2012 08:49 AM

Mularkey also hired John Bonamego, who was the assistant special teams coach for the Saints last season... he'll be their special teams coordinator.

NFL.com news: Mularkey hires four more assistants for Jaguars' staff

Bonamego has a history with the JAX in the same position:

He worked for the Jaguars from 1999 to 2002, spending his final season as special teams coordinator.

Pete 01-21-2012 08:58 AM

I hope the Jags secondary already know how to catch interceptions because he sure won't be able to teach them how to:doh:I believe he used a catapult and medicine balls to teach the art of the interception!WTF:confused:

UK_WhoDat 01-21-2012 01:43 PM

Well the Jaguars will be very disappointed when they realise he ain't a Norse god.
