God I hope not. Vilma is the only one I\'d want out of that. Looks good for Arizona though.

Yeah, ok. I just hate when people reply with \"this ****ing sucks!\" and leave nothing to back up their opinion.

I don\'t think it sucks. I disagree philosophically on a few projections, but for the most part they make sense.

Since you seem to want rationale for disagreement, I\'ll give just a few of the ideas I had on it.

1. Houston--round 1--I understand projecting Houston to take a corner. I would guess they take Shawn Andrews if they stay at 10. David Carr\'s injuries last year should remind the front office that Carr needs a tackle. They haven\'t addressed this since gambling on Tony Boselli. The only caveat I would make to this is if they were to trade up for Sean Taylor or Sean Taylor were to fall to #10. Not saying you\'re wrong, just saying I think Andrews is a more valuable pick for them.

2. Dallas--round 1--I can\'t see Parcells passing on one the best RB coming out this year. Starks will be really good though and Parcells is famous for saying, \"There aren\'t many people over 300 lbs that are in shape.\" He just can\'t play his style of ball with the backs he has. Now if they signed Corey Dillion, things would be different. But they could take Clarett, he just doesn\'t seem like a Parcells type guy to me.

3. Green Bay--round 1--After Losman was hanging out at Favre\'s place last summer, I think they go ahead and take him in round 1, even though they have bigger needs.

4. Kansas City--round 1--WR is a good pick for them, but after the whipping that Manning gave them in the playoffs, I\'d guess Will Poole here or maybe Isaac Hilton or Marquise Hill here. This team has to get better on defense. Their division was forgiving last year, I think they\'ll have a tougher go this year.

5. New England--round 1--I don\'t see Tubbs going this high. Or at least not higher than Olshansky. But I would project Vernon Carey going here to shore up the Offensive line.

At any rate, a good effort. Anyone who works through a 3 round effort should be commended.

I doubt the Saints will draft Vilma in R1. Sorry rAge, but your BMG Eli-like man crush is going to be shattered come draft day.

How sure are you that the Saints are picking at 18? How sure are you that Vilma will be there? The Likelyhood of the Saints trading down is very possible. The senerios in this years draft is astronomical to say the least. There are NO definates this year unlike past years, except for an occasional surprise here and there. Mock to Mock its complete hog-wash. The only real ones who have a clue who is going to be picked by whom this year is the team themselves when they pick. We can guess and speculate all we want to but keep a grip on reality here... its just purely speculation at very best. But its nice to see who has real lives and who doesn\'t.

1. Houston doesn\'t really have a major need at tackle anymore. They have Pitts, who played well last year and they also have Seth Wand, who they believe could be their future LT. Plus they picked up Todd Wade from the Dolphins.

2. I know they will take a RB, but I don\'t think it will be in round 1 (unless jackson falls to them, or they trade up for him). Clarrett was a mistake on my part. I left him out of the draft and didn\'t realize it till the end, so I stuck him in there last minute. I think he will go 3rd round.

3. Maybe?

4. WR is a major need for them that nobody else seems to talk about. But Will Poole is someone I\'m sure they will give a hard look to. Maybe even Hill. But Issac Hilton? That guy won\'t sniff the first round. I haven\'t even seen a mock that has him going anywhere past late 2nd.

5. Possibly. I see them trading up for a DT that can play in the 3-4. I forgot about it tho, so when their pick came around, I had them take Tubbs because he has the size to play NT.

thanks for the comments, eitherway.

Why do you believe that? If I was talking about something we don\'t need (like a...RB) or something totally unrealistic (like eli), I could see were you are coming from. But MLB is our main need and Vilma should be there. Why would we pass him up?

The only reason I thought Hilton is that he ran a 4.4 at the combine. I figured they might like to have a DE they could use like Green Bay uses KGB as sort of a speed rusher or a guy that can drop back into coverage. Hilton is does need to get heavier and it would be a gamble in round 1. But I bet they wish they\'d have a guy that could have hit Peyton around during that playoff matchup. I\'m not sure Vermiel is going to be real keen on taking gambles with the defensive line right now. If I were him, I\'d still be bitter about Ryan Sims not living up to the hype to this point.

As for New England that really is a coin flip. Who should they replace after losing Washington and Woody this offseason? I could see that going either way.

Who knows. The end of the 1st round is usually a little odd. People take risks that they shouldnt (look at oakland last year). So ya never know...

New England should go after the DT, IMO. Run defense is a bigger need than a guard. Guards can be found anywhere, a good NT is hard to find. Plus I have them taking Stephen Peterman in round 2, which takes care of their guard problem.

Don\'t let these guys get you down rAge. This entire forum is basically a chat room for about 10-15 \"veterens\" who are all familiar with each others opinion and not only don\'t want to hear from fans new to the board but actually take time out of their day to put down and belittle people simply trying to contribute. I might not agree with your opinion but I do respect it and your right to post it.

I didn\'t mean to upset you with my opinion of the Saints picks. I should have given reason but didn\'t feel it necessary at the time as I was just making a statement.

Vilma is the best linebacker in the draft, no doubt, and he is someone I\'d love to see sporting a fleur de lis. But I don\'t think that two mid-level to lower-level CBs make up for one top-level CB. And yes I have heard of them, for one thing I go to the Senior Bowl every year. I think one of the top three CBs will be there at 18, hopefully. If so we can pick up Darryl Smith or Rod Davis in the second. They are both good middle linebackers. In the third round I think we would be better picking up a RB or OT than a center. Remember that Bentley played center in college and Haslett has talked about him being the future center.

I do have to compliment you on going through three whole rounds. I did a one round mock and it took me two days.

Ok... no one is saying much here... we know they will go LB or CB. Its a no brainer here. The real question and interesting thing is if the Saints move up to snag a player or drop back get extra picks and get a player where he falls. Some CB\'s will be therein the first round in a few picks back.

I wasn\'t upset, I just wanted a reason as to why you thought what you thought.

Anyway, as I have said a bunch of times, the top three CB\'s aren\'t much better than the guys that will go in the 2nd round. The only one I would use the 18th overall pick on is Gamble, because he has tons and tons of potential.

I thought about an OT in the 3rd but no one really jumped out at me. And a RB would be something we could take in the 5th round. Signing Stecker means we don\'t have a huge need there anymore and I can\'t see spending a 3rd rounder on a 3rd string RB. I hate the idea of moving Bentley to center...I think we would be much better off moving Jacox over but if we could get a Nick Leckey in the 3rd...why move either? Ya know.

Round 5 - Derek Knight - RB - Boston College
Round 6 - Carl Diggs - LB - Michigan
Round 7 - Maurice Brown - WR - Iowa

Think Seattle will go offensive line in the second round now that they have signed Taylor?

Quote:

Once again, as hard as it is, I gotta agree. I\'ve never had this problem in the past, cause the few people I didn\'t care for that posted, didn\'t know what they were talking about, so they made it real easy. I was in the minority when I made a similar statement as the one above, on another site. It\'s hard arguing against the majority, even though it goes without saying that your opinion is the correct one, which is always is (not counting the two exceptions I have every year).
On another note, I still think we could use some youth on the offensive line and some size on the interior defensive line. I like Leckey in the 4th, give him a few years with a pro team, and he will be a starter for a long time to come, regardless of whether he plays center or guard. Love his aggressive nature.
