I think he made his statements so that emphasis is not placed on him during this week. He knows this week belongs to Eli, and he is doing everything he can to keep it that way. In the end, however, I do believe we will get an announcement out of Peyton that he is hanging it up.

Agree. I had the same surgery in March 2011, except I had 2 discs removed with 5/6/7 fused. I have not been the same since. I was a 6 foot 240Lbs weightlifting machine, and played b-ball constantly . As soon as I had the surgery my entire right side deflated. Lost all strength in it. Now I'm around 215-220lbs, still have no feeling in my right hand and sometimes the initial excruciating pain in my neck down through my right tricep to my hand comes back. Haven't been able to do pushups, or anything since. My right arm feels like jello, and is half the size of my left. And I hate the hand shake now.
Yes, I know he's getting better care and medicine than I could ever hope for. It is not impossible but I just can't see how he can come back from this. Plus, in case you haven't noticed, he is all neck! :)
But like he and the doctors stated the actual procedure has already healed, it's the nerve regeneration that is in question...as with myself. There is no telling on how much or if it will ever get back to "prior damage" state.
I wish him all the luck in his rehabilitation, because I know how he feels and it sucks!
