NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- New Orleans Saints tackle Victor Riley was charged Monday with driving while intoxicated.

Riley was charged with first-offense DWI, reckless operation and disobeying traffic control signals, Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Linda Kennedy said.
Riley was brought into the parish jail at 2:25 a.m. Monday and released by a judge at 5:45 a.m., Kennedy said.
Team officials did not immediately return a call seeking comment late Monday.
Riley, a 6-foot-5-inch right tackle, was signed by the Saints in April as an unrestricted free agent.

Oh, and for the people who might think I'm down on the boys, or to hard. I think we all should reflect. A drunk, anybody, is a danger to you, me and most of all OUR CHILDREN. remember just because they play for the team you love, does not mean that they are ". Winning is the ultimate goal, but if we have people doing bad things. Remember OUR CHILDREN look up to these people, and want to be just like them.

All my posts have been negative I know, But I don't care win or lose. Do the "RIGHT THINGS" in life.

Da,

This stuff happens on every team, from the minors to the pros and from the NBA to the NHL. It also happens in real life to more people than you would imaging. Just check out the weekly wrap up of DWIs in the Times Picayune (www.nola.com).

I am in no ways condoning his behavior or saying that DWIs are cool or acceptable, I am just saying that people do make mistakes in judgement. They should be given the opportunity to correct their mistakes and prove that they can learn from them, so as not to do so again.

This shouldn\'t have a major effect on his career either. Yes, he broke the law, but what he did was not a capital offense. Let\'s save the lynchings for the people that really deserve them.

If you are from South Louisiana, I would be very surprised if you did not personally know at least a couple of people (pretty well) that had also been stopped for driving under the influence. Chances are thay are not otherwise bad people. They are not murders, rapists or child molestors. They just had a lapse in judgement brought on by too much alcohol.

So in the end, help them to understand that what they did was wrong. Let them pay their debt to society and encourage them not to make the same mistake twice. It\'s the American way.

Sorry if I sould like a bleeding heart liberal, because I am not. I just grew up in N.O. and have seen this happen first hand to too many people -- good and bad, but mostle good.

This is way off of what I usually post about, so please excuse the rant. I just happen to know a guy that lost a career for the same thing -- 1st offense DWI. Sometimes, people just deserve second chances.

Absolutely, good news on the way soon WIN or LOSE .

They just seem to be loosing focus again. . We need to let them know we wont stand for this behavior from the team, somehow.

and as for \"I just happen to know a guy that lost a career for the same thing -- 1st offense DWI. Sometimes, people just deserve second chances.\"

Yep they do. As long as they make good on it. Sorry about your friends career, but I bet you know of it as the worst mistake in his life. And you would tell one after the other not to do the same as you did.

But the biggest point is do you really think \"Victor Riley\" will lose much of anything? I don\'t, Not like you friend did.

my opinion on this situation looks like this: i believe that the saints should take some sort of action against anyone in the orginization that commits an act to this magnitute, whether it be fines or suspensions, Bourbon St. is readily available to saint players, coaches, etc. and they should set some sort of punishment for DWI. Driving drunk not only endangers yourself but the community as well, by allowing yourself the opportunity to take the life of another human being, and something should be done about it, not just through the saints but the community as well

Amen to that. \"gatorman\" :D

\"Let\'s hope Haz and Mickey do their jobs!\"

I would like to see them be even tougher than the league. Might just make some others get back in line.
I will stand by anybody that stops this nonsense. And focuses on team community, and good morals. Its not hard, we do it everyday.

I see your point about him playing. That is what we pay for.
But here\'s another little thing to think about. last year the world came down around our team real quick. We are starting to get a list of trouble people that are putting the focus somewhere else than the football field. As for the new term \"Dale Cartered\" I fear we will see him in the media again, for the wrong reasons.
What could you possibly learn by not going to work for a few weeks. Where I come from we call that a vacation. And I don\'t think any money was withheld from any of these individuals.

No ass seen around here. But if I see it I\'ll get a rope.

Ha Ha Ha Ha

But the money thing don\'t really put them in a bind like it would me or you.

He will be punished. On that you can rely. My only thought is. He does know better. We know it and so does he.

He made a bad error in judgement ,fortunately no one was hurt. I find it hard to deal with all of you pious people who have never made a bad judgement call. Where the real error lies is in if it happens again........ie Dale Carter. Everyone makes mistakes, i could care less if they are on my team. Everyone knows the issues with DUI.
