I think the Saints would be fine with Henderson, Moore, and Morgan with Arrington as the odd man out if they found a way to sign another 6-4+ WR to compliment the others and Graham.

I mean Graham and Moore are probably going to be the most targeted receivers on the "short-medium" range while both Henderson and Morgan can stretch the field with their speed. That coupled with the screen passes to both Sproles and PT should be able to provide enough passing offense to win against just about anybody... especially with an improved D.

What about players like Mike Sims-Walker and other probably underrated WR? In my opinion keeping Brees and Nicks = good offensive play from players who wouldn´t normally be on that high of level.

What we should not forget is that we do have a hopefully healthy Ingram back next year that should take some of the workload of the passing game.

Maybe getting a WR in the later rounds of the draft that has a Colston like game should work?

I think they should target defensive players only with the first four picks - 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th - but a WR with either one of the 6th round picks or the 7th round pick would be acceptable.

Now, it is an entirely different issue if any quality WRs are still available at those low picks - I know that Colston himself was a 7th round pick, but the odds of landing a similar pick is highly unlikely as is the case with Arrington - and whether those players available can have an immediate impact on the field next season.

They might just find another undrafted rookie to follow in the footsteps of Moore and Morgan.

Another piece I found on nfl.com that kinda supports my case! Why not get 2-3 players for a cheaper price than Colston?

If I needed to upgrade my WR corps, I'd do it as cheaply as possible. Reggie Wayne is 33. He's seeing the end of his NFL career coming, but he still has pride and a lot left in the tank. I go for a middle-of-the-road contract to get him. I also give Danny Amendola a decent deal if he's healthy. Harry Douglas showed some promise when he filled in for Julio Jones, and he wouldn't cost a lot either. Early Doucet has flashed a little in Arizona, and he piques my interest. I could get two or three of them for two or three years each for what it would cost for Vincent Jackson or Wes Welker or Marques Colston or Dwayne Bowe. It's all about collecting quantity at WR now.

That is a valid point you're making Jankman8, but I see the whole situation as the opposite to what you are suggesting.

I think the Saints have a good corps or receivers with talent even if both Colston and Meachem depart during the FA period - Moore, Henderson, Morgan, Arrington, and Tanner (possible even Roby).

Now last two on that list are more practice squad guys, but the Saints do have receiver depth in case of an injury - and if we add Graham, Sproles, and PT to that list of potential receivers, the situation looks even better.

That is why the Saints need a #1 WR threat, nothing less than that. If it isn't Colston, then they need to attract one of the other big guns to come NOLA way, because as it stands now Moore would be the #1 and Henderson the #2.
