Speculatin' on the Law...

If Bill Belichick caves in to Ty Law it will mean trouble with several other Patriots. Why don't the Pats trade Law before the draft? What could they get for him? Who would want him?

You bring up an option that is not discussed often; usually, the suggestions are pay him or force him to play for $7 million. We would be shocked if the Patriots give in to Law's demands. To trade him they would have to let his agent cut a long-term deal with a team that would be willing to give up picks and/or players. The Pats should get nothing less than a second-round pick for Law, who would be of interest to the Saints, Giants, Cardinals or Jaguars. All four teams have an early second-round pick, and the Saints have two -- 48th and 60th. If the Patriots make that kind of deal (and we believe they should) they would have two first-round picks and three in the second round. They would then be in position to get Virginia Tech's DeAngelo Hall or Dunta Robinson of South Carolina to replace law.

Very Interesting. So what would you do? Give up a two and probably more for Law or hold on and hope for Hall or Robinson?

I\'d give up a 3rd for him and draft hall or robinson if they are there at 18

Unless Law (and his agents ... and his salary demands) returns to planet Earth I would not touch him.
A second round pick for a player of his caliber is a bargain. The problem is the contract he wants.

This whole deal is over something that was promised Law during his last contract negociations. The Ravens/Belichick are going against what was promised him. WOuld you be ticked off that you were promised something and it wasn\'t delievered... perhaps. There are several options. Law could sit out the remainder of his contract or be traded... hell he still may end up in New England. Keep in mind a lot of what goes on is all negociations/smoke screens
