I'm starting to get Ticked Off with....

This delay in re-signing Drew Bree's. WTH, is taking so long? ML says its definitely gonna get done and Drew's saying his main focus is on keeping the team together so SOMEBODY'S LYING!!! Get the damn thing done Loomis, so we can start working on Nicks. This posturing is HS. You know what needs to be done so do your damn job and GET HER DONE ALREADY!

SapperSaint 02-12-2012 07:40 AM

I am thinking that both sides are trying to figure out what is best for Drew and what is best for the Saints. To be honest, it would not surprise me in the least if Drew was trying to help Loomis figure out how they can keep Nicks and Colston.

JMHO..... I think Drew is a Saints "Homer".

This deal is gonna get done. Drew is a Saint for life.

ScottF 02-12-2012 08:32 AM

I agree with Sapper.

and let's not forget the Peyton factor. His salary skews what a top 3 QB should make, so that helps the Saints' leverage a little.

I'd love to see Loomis get creative-- back end a deal like the NHL does, or have the Saints give the Brees Dream Foundation $1 mill a year for the next 20 years. Anonymously, of course.

saintsfan1976 02-12-2012 08:45 AM

Brees & Loomis identified that there were too many moving parts in this deal (Nicks, Colston, et al.) and that's most likely the motive for postponing talks until after the season.

My advice is to relax - the deal will get done. Once it's done the rest will follow.

I sure hope so... because if this falls thru and he does sign with another team.....
I'd hate to turn on him like a snake :)

WhoDat!656 02-12-2012 10:03 AM

Fortunatley Drew isn't holding out for money, because you know Jerry Jones/Dan Snyder would start a bidding war for him if the Saints lo-balled him.

jeanpierre 02-12-2012 10:09 AM

Moving Parts?

Don't forget that the defense has to be worked as well - you have non-favorable, existing contracts with Will Smith, Roman Harper, Sedrick Ellis. Those contracts must be reworked as well.

Then you know the Saints have to address some free agent needs on Defense, and possibly OT...

Yeah, the Front Office has a tremendous opportunity - let's hope they don't screw the pooch...

drew is looking at the big picture i am sure. i would not be surprised to see two if not all three deals announced within 24 hrs of each other.

micky talking with one agent is one thing but three agents how are also talking amongst themselves is another

There's no doubt in my mind Brees will sign with us. However, I am getting a little anxious. If Brees is not signed by March 5th (the last day to Franchise a player) the Saints will most likely Franchise him so he can't become a free agent. This will cause a domino effect with Colston and Nicks. I think the Saints plan on using the Franchise Tag on Nicks so he can't become a free agent. They will still try to work out a long term deal but this avoids a bidding war. If the Saints are still working on Drew's deal into free agency I think there is a good chance we lose both Nicks and Colston. If Brees is signed before March 5th, I think there's a good chance both Colston and Nicks come back. We really can't do much this offseason until Brees is signed, that's why I think some fans are getting a little anxious.

Jeez, this is pathetic.

Is anyone really dumb enough to think this deal won't eventually get done?

Whiney little spoiled brats.

SapperSaint 02-12-2012 01:50 PM

Tell us how you really feel Danno. Don't hold anything back.

I'm sorry, the whole "sky is falling" crowd is tickin me off.

Even Drew said it would likely be March before anything was finalized.

We have to consider all the possibilities and how Nicks and Colston can be included in the final structures.

This isn't as easy as just "pay the man". This is big boy negotiation and it takes time.

I'm shocked that after 6 years watching Mickey Loomis work with players we want to keep, that anyone would really be concerned about contract negotiations with a player everyone practically worships.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

give your fellow fans here a little credit; they know the deal will be done, the question is how much, and how will it affect Nicks, Colston, Porter, Meachem

you yourself have said Brees is going to milk ownership for every dime he can get and not worry about Colston or Nicks

I'm with ya brother. Just messin with ya!

I don't think Drew would "milk" the club for every dime. Do I think his agent would? Abso-freakin-lutely.

Obviously you can't read. Or if you can, you can't understand what you are reading. No one said that they didn't think a deal was going to get done. Just aggrivated that it's not done yet. You need to go back to Saints Report with that kind of attitude. They like that kind of stuff over there. It's why that site is falling down the charts and we are over here. Leave that ****e on SR.

Thanks Danno.

SapperSaint 02-13-2012 07:51 AM

Calm down now.... everybody calm down.

No one needs to resort to going to SR for anything. Things haven't gotten that bad.

We all want Drew's deal to get done. We know what he means to this team. As does his team mates. If we didn't have these kinda threads....what the heck are we gonna talk about?

Lets face it....the off season sucks. It allows the mind to wonder. Maybe too much. :-D
