Hicks was projected as a round six pick. Back in March JCP026 and I both had kind of the same idea.

Big risk in round 3.

Would really liked to had had Hardin - and look who he went - Merde!

Joe Adams , WR, Arkansas - We all know him in the SEC. the kid can play. I would love to have him i just do not like his blocking skills. whiffes alot. He needs to hit the weight room.

Ron Brooks CB LSU - how far up will his 4.39 40 push him? 4.3

Tony Bergstrom OT Utah
Bergstrom could be a legitimate option at right tackle. Needs some fine tunning but he is basically as fndementally sound of a RT as there is in the draft. question is how much room is left in his game for improvement. Arm length is a bit on the short side for OT in my book.

Nigel Bradham, OLB, Florida St.stud tackling that that physically you can not really find a hole in his game. the gap is in his instinctual reactions to play developement as a player. stud on special teams for sure.

Deangelo Peterson, LSU 6-3, 243 - Highly under rated TE at LSU stuck with a QB that well did not move through his reads that fast.

Philip Blake, C, Baylor—Blake has some experience at tackle and he's used to a shotgun, pass-oriented offense. a bit sluggish for my liking.

Trenton Robinson, FS, Michigan State—Robinson can cover well and has the ballhawk mentality

Jonathan Massaquoi, DE/OLB, Troy - Value pick? heck yeah. you know what your geting. thats the issue here. ceiling in my opion is limited.

ok this dude is just silly quick. water bug. He is a master of the slot. great hands and knows how to get seperation.

If he is there i say once agian gamble on a true 6' 01" CB that has the ability to stay at CB. Heck even a move to FS if need. Cap issue will follow the saints and the time to build depth is now. The secondary Is coming up quickly for resigning. Plus he has produced 13 career interceptions, with 4 returned for touchdowns. He also works as a punt and kickoff returner. AN ALL AMERICAN 2 YEARS RUNNING

A mid-4.4 runner with the wheels to stretch the field and the hands and moves to make things happen around the goal line.
With good size, he proved he could run even at a bigger size and can still get more physical. He has proved to be far more athletic than he shows on tape with better raw skills and tools than just about any tight end in the draft. However, he didn’t actually do much on deep plays and wasn’t a go-to target.
He’s not a great blocker and he needs a lot of work on his route running ability, but he’s too athletic not to develop

Intriguing pick: DT Akiem Hicks (third) -- Strange circumstances during his recruitment by LSU out of junior college led to Hicks leaving the Tigers and landing in Regina, where he simply dominated lesser competition with his sheer physical gifts. Hicks has size and heavy hands, and he moves well for his size. He is as raw as it gets, though, and needs to become more explosive. There are few rookies who stand to gain as much as Hicks from NFL strength/conditioning/nutrition programs, though the Saints likely hope he can spell NT Brodrick Bunkley at times while developing. If Hicks realizes his potential, though, he could become the heir apparent in the middle.

A look at the 10 best undrafted free agents after the 2012 NFL draft:

1. Washington RB Chris Polk

5. Tennessee RB Tauren Poole
Poole is slightly undersized and lacks juice as a runner. However, he possesses excellent vision and patience as a runner, and consistently gets the most from carries. Poole has a chance to go into a camp and earn a spot on a roster as a change-of-pace reserve back.

6. Furman CB Ryan Steed
Steed has adequate size, and is a tough competitor who is at his best getting physical and disrupting a receiver's release in press coverage. His lack of speed and struggles against upper-echelon competition might have scared teams away, but he's worth a look as a priority free agent who could develop into a solid reserve and special teams contributor on the back end of a roster.

7. Arkansas State S Kelcie McCray
McCray is a flexible, smooth athlete who shows good range in coverage. However, lack of instincts and strength, along with inconsistent tackling in run support, caused him to slip down the board.

8. BYU OT Matt Reynolds
Reynolds lacks elite athleticism and lateral agility, and is a bit heavy-footed. He has good size, though, and is fundamentally sound. He also has the versatility to line up at both guard and tackle to add depth to an offensive line.

9. Syracuse S Phillip Thomas
Thomas is undersized, and lacks elite top-end speed and overall range. However, he has excellent instincts and ball skills to capitalize when he is able to get into position. In addition, he takes solid angles and is reliable in run support.

10. Iowa OT Markus Zusevics
Zusevics lacks elite athleticism but has the strength, toughness and aggressiveness to develop into an adequate reserve at right tackle or move inside to guard.
