Ivory a trade candidate?

Trade Candidates

4. Chris Ivory, Saints

Overview: A north-south collision runner completely devoid of passing-game value, Ivory has flourished whenever given opportunities to be the Saints' early-down back. Appearing in 18 games through two years, Ivory has averaged 5.05 yards per carry with six touchdowns. The relentless, take-no-prisoners style has led to an array of injuries, however. Ivory blew out a knee five games into his senior college season. Undrafted in 2010, he missed time as a rookie with an MCL injury, concussion, separated shoulder, and a hamstring strain. Ivory suffered a Lisfranc fracture in his left foot in Week 17. He also underwent hernia surgery during the 2011 offseason and missed one game with another hamstring injury last season. Ivory is only two years into the league, and he's already got a laundry list of medical flags. The Saints will be all ears in regard to trade offers because he's fourth string behind Darren Sproles, Pierre Thomas, and Mark Ingram.

Prediction: Elsewhere before 2012 trade deadline.

I've said (as many other have also said) that Ivory is the odd man out. I still believe it, and I hate it, because I really like pulling for the under dog and I really like his running style. But if we trade a back, it'll be Ivory.

Yeah he has trade value, hes in a crowded backfield where PT has just got a big contract, sproles and mark Ingram have years left on there's, Ingram will get better as time progresses.

The only thing about Ivory, I don't know if this is due to playcalling but he's very one dimensional, he's a beast as a runner don't get me wrong, but whenever he's in it's 95% run 5% pass

Ingram is the future

I doubt he'll be traded, because he is very affordable to the Saints, SP will want to have that 4 RB depth considering the troubles the Saints have faced when thin at that position, and finally I don't think Ivory's trade value is that high... maybe a 4th round pick at best?

He's barely worth a 7th rounder, I'd rather keep him.

The past two years we've had injuries to at least one back; we would have been in trouble last year if not for Ivory when Ingram was lost for the season.

I'm thinking we stick with Ivory and the 4 back system for awhile...

Ivory is going nowhere. The Saints will keep their 3 back system leaving someone out. Ivory and Thomas each have distinct abilities that make them key for specific games and with Ingram being a rookie still, he needs to sit behind the two backs some.

I was referring to suiting up 3 like they usually do and have one back inactive. I should of specified.

Ivory being on the PUP list to start the season and then Ingram going to IR made suiting 3 easy this past season.

No telling how they will handle the rotation this season...
