Upcoming draft interviews...

As a writer for BlackAndGold.com, I really appreciate the opportunity that the Editor (Mark Clark) has given me.

As many of you know, BlackAndGold.com has produced more "First Draft Exclusive Interviews" than any other Saints' blog or sports page. Some of the notable names that BlackAndGold.com has done an initial story on include (but are not limited to):

* Marcus Colston
* Jahri Evans
* Tracy Porter
* Chris Ivory
* Nate Bussey
* Thomas Morstead
* Johnny Patrick
* Cameron Jordan
* Martez Wilson
* Greg Romeus
* Carl Nicks
* Adrian Arrington,

...and more.

When I speak with the coaching staff about some of our upcoming draft picks (including UDFA's), what question/questions would you like to have thrown their way?

I'll try to incorporate as many of your ideas as I can.

Thanks to all of you. It is because of you (the fans) that our base is as good as it is!

Are they going to stick with the method of picking the best player available or are they going to be more committed to picking players to fill certain positions and needs this time around?

Stealthman 02-18-2012 06:23 PM

Good question, FinSaint. But maybe I wasn't clear enough on my post.

I need questions you'd like asked to the coaches of players we actually draft. After we pick them, "...it is what is is."

I just want to know if there are any subjects or thoughts you'd like to see brought up in the interview.

Thanks.

They all pump sunshine into their players but I'd like to get an honest opinion to what they're lacking and how they can improve to be successful at the next level.

Stealthman 02-18-2012 06:52 PM

Great question, Papz.

"How interested are you in being invested in the community?"

Volunteerism is a huge part of why our area survives.

SapperSaint 02-18-2012 07:31 PM

Question: "How do you feel about being apart of a team that has the best fans in the NFL?"

Question: "What are some personal goals you have set for yourself inside and outside of football?"

Stealthman 02-18-2012 07:49 PM

You guys are on the ball...

FinSaint 02-19-2012 07:56 AM

How about, what is the one thing they did well in the former system they played in college that will most likely carry over with success to the Saints' system?

Speedy Ron 02-19-2012 02:40 PM

1. can you tackle?
2. can you beat out scott shanle?
3. can you penetrate an offensive line?
4. can you cover a tight end?

Quoted because a like simply wasn't enough.

gandhi1007 02-19-2012 06:00 PM

"Can you put pressure on the opposing QB???" should be a top question as well.

As with other years, there are some Universities that will not grant an outside interview. The ones that have not allowed me an opportunity include, but are not limited to:

* USC
* "The U" (Miami)
* Alabama

Even so, most have been pretty cool.

Thanks for all who have posted suggested questions. I hope there are more to come...

How do I become a writer for B&G? I want to meet some of those cats. I could be the color guy.

I hope you have good writing skills that don't need much editing.

All the best to you, bro!

How do you plan to handle the heat and humidity? Can you tackle well in the open field?

Rugby Saint II 02-25-2012 05:27 PM

What is your number one priority as a rookie. Don't give me a generic answer please. Now go.

hagan714 02-26-2012 08:27 PM

will you be making the question harder for wr in the interview?

lets just say we do not have the greatest track record in getting the smartest WR with our higher picks in the draft.

Stealthman 02-27-2012 08:16 AM

Just a reminder: I'll be interviewing the COACHES ...of the players we draft. It is highly unlikely that I'll get access to the actual player.

Again, what question(s) would you like asked that gives us some idea of the type of player that would be coming our way?

Thanks.

OOOOHHHHHH...then let me rephrase...

1) who on your team can tackle?
2) who on your team is better than scott shanle?
3) who can penetrate an offensive line?
4) who can cover a tight end?

i apologize in advance for being an A hole...

SloMotion 02-27-2012 04:24 PM

Q: What most about this player impressed you when you coached him?

Q: What do you think it will take for this player to win a starting job in the NFL?
Q: Has he shown this level of performance before or does he have more to do?

Stealthman 02-27-2012 08:08 PM

You guys rock.

Thanks for the input; I will look to use as many of your suggestions as practical.
