i mean, My God - it's not like we had the defensive stats to back it up..
The problem ISN'T whether players were paid or not; the problem is that the bounty 'fund' was in place to begin with.

Thank you! I made that point in another thread. It doesn't matter whether players were successful or not in knocking players out of the game... all that matters is that the people in charge are admitting that it was in place.

I'm thinking charles grant is the rat. But even Warner said none of the hits on him were illegal.

I'm thinking Gregg Williams is one of the rats. Another is probably Bobby McCray... one of the offenders in question for his questionable hit on Favre. I remember it was weird that we didn't resign him after that season. Bitter perhaps?

I'd say the rat is one of the following: Shockey, Alex Brown, Bobby McCray, Anthony Hargrove, Reggie Bush, Jonathan Goodwin, Olin Kruetz.

I like the way you think. I've been talking about McCray as one of the snitches. Reggie is absolutely a possibility. Do you guys remember when he threw us under the bus earlier last season about the Giants faking injuries to slow down the other team's no-huddle offense? He made it pretty clear that the Saints did that too. Olin Kruetz could have done it too... But I only say that because he's Mr. "Oh so you're going to bench me because I suck?! Well then I quit!"

I'm really torn about this.

Obviously, I think the idea of paying players to hurt other players is absolutely reprehensible.

That said, where were the illegal hits? MAYBE the hit on Favre. One illegal hit is going to cost our team a million dollars, draft picks, and possibly losses next season if we have to, effectively, suspend our entire defense and head coach for multiple games?!?

How many players have been injured playing against us? How many fines have been levied against our defense for illegal hits? Does the league honestly think we're the only team that has such a "program?" (Not saying that makes it right, just calling b.s. on throwing us to the wolves.)

I mean, I get why the league has to do SOMETHING, it just seems like they're out to freaking destroy us for something that doesn't even seem to have resulted in dirty play on the field.

Let's see what the investigation shows. However since Gregg Williams is already falling on his sword by way an apology, leads me to think it is very possible the bounties took place. If all of this is true, then we deserve whatever punishment we get. If I were Drew Brees I would not want to re-sign with the Saints. I am extremely disapointed and disgusted by it all. This places a stigma on the superbowl win.
