Loomis caught lying to Benson & league

General managers only have so many people above them in the NFL hierarchy. A team owner is one. The league office is another place you don’t want to mess with.

According to a report from Don Banks of SI.com, Saints G.M. Mickey Loomis got caught lying to both Saints owner Tom Benson and those conducting the NFL’s internal investigation of the Saints’ bounty program.

Loomis reportedly was asked about the Saints’ bounties in 2010 and denied knowing anything about it. He then ignored Benson’s orders to discontinue to program if it existed.

Pro Football Talk is a rag. The TMZ of the NFL... And Mike Florio is a drama queen.

Loomis will protect Benson, get a slap on the wrist and chastised "wink-wink" by Benson.

It will however continue to be our own version of the Pats spygate.

Nope, didn't help.

FinSaint 03-03-2012 07:08 PM

Well it's better than being caught stealing.

Where does it say thou shall not bounty hunt?

73Saint 03-03-2012 07:54 PM

Spygate is cheating, bounty gate is ugly. That's the difference the way I see it

Saints got no competitive advantage.

The Saints Defense has been mediocre for a long time. The Saints got no competitive advantage from the scheme, so, the punishments should NOT include measures that would harm the Saints competitiveness.

There should be some fines and maybe Loomis needs to be fired. That would not be a big loss in my humble opinion.

Are you crazy? Loomis is one of the better GMs in the league.

But after the narcotics episode, this could be more than a slap on the wrist...

I agree with Haps or understand what he is trying to say. For the Saints to show good face, remorse, this could be done. Save Loomis or save face, name and the team.

The Saints, from is out there, is one of 32 teams that did this.
That doesn't make it right. It is still very wrong.

bobdog86 03-04-2012 11:18 AM

Loomis will get a hefty fine....It's his job to protect "The Man" Mr. Benson. Besides, he's probably one of the best GM's in the game. If we want to return to the days relative obscurity and mediocrity, then whack him.

RailBoss 03-04-2012 11:30 AM

Fire Loomis! that's crazy talk. You know Williams is gone now and he is the one who established this program in Washington and N.O. Thank God he is gone now he can bring his magic to the Rams.
