Jay Glazer reports that Payton/Loomis will NOT be fired by Benson

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that neither Loomis nor coach Sean Payton will be fired by Benson.

Benson

Duh!

WhoDat!656 03-03-2012 10:43 PM

Have you ever had a subordinate not obey a directive/order?

I have, and fired his a$$ on the spot!!

Yeah but this is not and has never been a "Normal" business. They live and die by there own rules.

lynwood 03-03-2012 11:12 PM

Why fire them when the NFL will set their punishment. Take your lumps and continue to win baby!!

WhoDat!656 03-03-2012 11:21 PM

You fire them to hopefully lessen whatever sanctions the league was going to slap the Saints with.

Also, what is the next thing Loomis is going to decide he is going to disobey Benson over?

alleycat_126 03-03-2012 11:25 PM

He ( Jay Glazer ) also reported who spoke to one saints player who said yes we absolutely did this. Of course no names though.

FinSaint 03-04-2012 06:44 AM

Maybe Loomis, and SP to some extent, corroborated Benson's version of the story to deflect the heat away from the old man, which is why Benson has no intention of firing them?

It sounds to me like you WANT them to be fired.

No league imposed infractions could ever approach the disastrous affects of losing Payton and Loomis. Get real.

Rugby Saint II 03-04-2012 12:16 PM

Benson didn't know it because he's not in the loop. Now Rita on the other hand.........

Yup. Another reason why Loomis and Payton are staying put.

Benson

Loomis is like a son to Mr. Benson, and, Mr. Benson will never fire his son.

So, we better hope that Loomis does well, because he has a job for life.
That is eminently clear.

:bng:

NOS2SB 03-04-2012 01:14 PM

FIRE ROGER GOODELL!!!!!

SaintsBro 03-04-2012 02:52 PM

The one who should be fired for this is Gregg Williams, and that's already been done. Seriously. Get real. It could have even been that they knew last year this charge/report was coming, inside of the organization, and that's why they let him go.

Halo 03-04-2012 02:56 PM

Was Bellichick fired for Spygate?

“Mr. Benson advised league staff that he had directed his general manager, Mickey Loomis, to ensure that any bounty program be discontinued immediately. The evidence showed that Mr. Loomis did not carry out Mr. Benson’s directions.”
Am I the only person who thinks GW could run a bounty scheme WITHOUT Loomis or SP knowing about it?

GW was in 100% control of the defense. I'm sure knowing what they were doing was illegal made the defense a little quiet about what was going on. I'm sure they weren't just bragging about it at the facility and to other coaches.

No biggie in my book. Its like side-bets in golf. It doesn't affect how you play the game, it just provides braggin rights when its over, or in my case humility.

jeanpierre 03-04-2012 06:15 PM

Why the Saints? Why not come down on the Ravens, Giants, or 49'ers?

Player Safety? What about the constant chop-block effort by Falcons and Broncos?

The League has its darlings and then the league has the 'other kids'...

And we're one of the 'other kids'

So you think firing the best GM/Head Coach tandem, the Saints have ever had, in their entire history, is the best way to go? Are you high? No, no, no..... I agree with Halo on this one.... Williams was the mastermind behind this whole thing.... How do we know, that this isn't the reason that Loomis let Williams go in the first place? I'm still waiting for Payton to respond to this..... The last thing you do, is fire either one..... Forget "messages" being sent..... The only message that matters to me, is the one they send to the fans, where they say, "we aren't going to screw all of you, in the process."

And here's another thing..... Benson doesn't have the best "track record" when it comes to major decisions..... That's why we were never as successful, with him running the show.... He's the last one that should make this decision....

Firing Payton.... No bueno..... He's the mastermind..... keep him where he is.... someone else will do something soon, and the media will shift.... it always does...

goguxxx 03-05-2012 12:53 AM

Its more of a mistery to me why this stuff surfaced now.If its ongoing since 2010,why hasnt anyone talked about it? Was it some kind of covert ops secret service crap ...jeez talking about everything in the open.

SmashMouth 03-05-2012 08:46 AM

This just in ....Jay Glazer WILL NOT BE FIRED over his shoddy and lame-arse reporting!
