This spells it out pretty well

It likely will take months for the Saints’ bounty scandal to be completely put to bed, but this much is certain: They are in a bunch of trouble, and the penalties may make Spygate look like a tampering charge.

In more ways than one, these Saints were sinners - The Boston Globe

The third page couldn't have said it better about the Brees contract situation.

"Condon works for him, and the contract is Brees’s call."

Exactly, which is why he needs to fire his butt.

Something stinks here. And it smells like GW left a turd here when he went to the Rams.

Srgt. Hulka 03-04-2012 01:35 PM

LMAO come on thats out of Boston. they want another team to share the shame of their spy gate. ignore them lol.

They are in a bunch of trouble, and the penalties may make Spygate look like a tampering charge.

They were Cheating!!!!!!!! sorry much worse

SaintPauly 03-05-2012 01:25 AM

I agree.... No press short of our own in N.O., will be unbiased on what "they think" the penalties should be.... Go to any open NFL forum, where all teams are discussed, and you will see, every other teams fans, have their pitchforks in one hand, and their torch in the other.... Screw em....

BoudinSandwich 03-05-2012 05:11 AM

This is how I feel about the situation:

We're the bad guys now. And, like it or not, it's time to embrace our role. I was always a defensive-minded guy. Even in little league, I threw elbows and played dirty. That's what competitiveness is about. It's always been there at every level. It might not be "right", but it is what it is.

People are fans of other teams. And, any time they can find a legit reason to hate another team, they will jump at the chance. This whole ordeal is practically a witch hunt. You have people saying that they don't actually think the Saints should get hit hard, but they still WANT them to - simply because it's not their team and they want to see their opponents hurt.

When you stink, nobody cares about you. We're an elite team. We have been for the past few years. That means people are going to have opinions. They're either going to love us or hate us. And now, they have a reason to hate us.

So, let them hate us. We're the bad guys now. Somebody's gotta do it and I don't mind that it's our team. Yeah, we're mean. We're nasty. We want to break you. We're the dirtiest players in the game (even though we may not actually be). Embrace it. No apologies.

And, when we go out there, crush faces, and win another championship.. we'll let out an evil laugh and rub it in everyone's faces.

I realize my opinion isn't the popular one... but maybe it should be.

I agree with you, and I was always the same in sports.

I don't care what other people think about the Saints - not before and certainly not now - but what concerns me are the possible repercussions of this investigation, which may deter the Saints from being as competitive next season.

BoudinSandwich 03-05-2012 05:35 AM

lol
Maybe it's because I watched too much Ric Flair growing up?

(Sorry, I don't mean to spam videos.) I think the Saints PR should release a statement similar to Flair's in this video.

Agreed. I think our team can handle pretty much every thing and still make a championship run or two in the next handful of years. The only thing that really concerns me is if we take hits to our salary cap.

lee909 03-05-2012 06:59 AM

I couldn't care what other teams fans think.
Aside from whatever Punishment the league throws out way my only worry is that you can guarantee anytime we go near another teams QB there will be more penalties against us.
The mud will stick but when the media get there teeth into the next scandal the circus will move on

Stiggs 03-05-2012 09:01 AM

I had been oblivious to this story all weekend. I kept hearing "bounty story" teasers on the local (DFW) sports station driving in. Never would've dreamed it was about my team, but I started getting nervous when the only two soundbites they played were from Farve and Warner. They both said basically "it's football", and Warner said that it was a clean hit that took him out. I think it'll blow over. ESPN was saying it could mean an 8 game suspension for Payton, and Williams might be barred from the NFL for 2 years. I never liked G. Williams and I'm damned glad he's gone.

Euphoria 03-05-2012 09:06 AM

Never liked him...

At the 2009 season you can't find a Saints fan alive that would say they didn't like him.

It wasn't until the end of 2010 when it started to unravel for him.

Rugby Saint II 03-05-2012 10:13 AM

In the last couple of years we do seem to have been arrogant. In 2009 we were confident and hungry. We may be about to be brought down a few notches. Of course, we do well with the "us against the world" attitude.

Almost seems as if they all agreed that he should find work elsewhere.
Somewhat try to dis-associate themselves from the ring leader in this scandal.
Not going to help much it seems. He didn't take the turd with him.
Now the media nor the league is not going to let this thing crust over.

YOu know what? It took years for the hammer to come down on Will Smith and the Vikings players. Who knows if we will even see reprocussions this year. I think there is going to be a league wide investigation and more teams will get exposed.

That was different, because there was the whole question of whether of not the StarCaps product violated the NFL substance abuse policies - there's no question here whether or not this activity violates NFL policies and rules.

Nope...This will be swift and hard I'm afraid. Goodell has to keep his a**-kissing buddies in the media happy, so hold on, it's gonna be a rough ride.

I liked GW when he was on our side. I hate him now that he is against us. I stopped supporting his style of defense at the end of 2010, but I have always liked a healthy disdain for authority.

Euphoria 03-05-2012 04:45 PM

I see some cuts being made this season depending on how long players are suspended for.

Vilma is primed for a huge suspension.
