Why did brees turn down the contract we offered him?

Its really something I don't understand....the guy that wanted a team friendly deal and is not known as greedy guy turns down the chance to be the highest paid player in the NFL because it was 6 mil off what he wanted?

Whys he suddenly being picky, sudden feeling of greediness. Its really made me second guess him for some reason. All the years up to this I knew brees was the best player and still IS the team, but I find this disappointing that we hes being picky and won't accept the 18 mil, wish I could afford to be that choosy

I'd have a heart attack if someone offered me 18 mil

What do you guys think?

Because Tom Condon is his agent, who has been banned by the Patriots. They won't speak to any players that have Condon as their agent.

That should tell you all you need to know.

His agent is the same as Payton Manning's agent (Condon).

One of the biggest flaws in Payton's contract was he got hurt a year after he signed his "MONSTER CONTRACT" and the Colts forced him to restructure it.

Brees wants a large chunk of the money "front loaded" to prevent that.

In the end, Condon is representing Brees, and agents are NOT concerned about a "team friendly" contract... PERIOD.

Condon specializes in making players the HIGHEST PAID players in the league at any one time. That's why I never believed all the hype and think it's all fan damage control by Drew Brees.

I think they better keep negotiating, I have a sinking feeling Goodell may strip them of the the franchise tag there using on him in which case they tag never happen and every one we have will be allowed to hit the open market.

Regardless he is a representative of Bress and if the agent is doing something Drew viewed as unbecoming or rather not representative of his wishes why not can the guy. Brees deserves to be payed well but he also deserves part of the blame regarding this situation.

Which may be one of the reasons why we used it on Brees. I'm thinking since we already used it they can't take it away. It would be unfair to the rest of the players we have on our team.

I don't think Goodell will do that................However kiss your #1 draft pick goodbye in 2013! JMO. Along with suspensions and Money in 2012(Vilma comes to mind)

Quote in the Charlotte paper today. Steve Smith "I WOULD NOT EXPECT ANYTHING LESS FORM THOSE GUYS!" Coming from a guy who punched out his own team-mates! LMAO.

I read somewhere,in all this mountain of reading,so don't know where, but I think the franchise tag rules are part of the CBA and can't be lifted.
Also,I think there's got to be some reason drew would turn down the offer,it does seem out of character.
