Black & Gold scrimmage to be held in Hammond

Saints will head back to Hammond

April 3, 2004

The New Orleans Saints are returning to Hammond to hold their annual Family Fan Day, which includes the Black and Gold scrimmage.

The Saints held training camp at Southeastern Louisiana University from 1986 to 1987, and University President Randy Moffett called the Saints' return to Hammond "fitting."

The 2004 Saints Family Fan Fest will be held Aug. 7 on the campus of Southeastern in Hammond. The scrimmage will be held at 9,700-seat Strawberry Stadium.

"We are very excited to bring 2004 Saints Family Fan Fest to Southeastern Louisiana University," said Saints executive vice president Arnold Fielkow. "Hammond - as well as its neighboring North Shore communities - has always been Saints country, and we are eager bring the excitement of Saints football to Strawberry Stadium."

Saints Family Fan Fest will begin at 1 p.m., with numerous football and family-oriented activities scheduled, including live music by the Bucktown All-Stars, Saints alumni autograph sessions, celebrity dunking booth for charity, photo sessions with Saints Mascot and Saintsations autograph and photo sessions.

"Having the New Orleans Saints return to the North Shore and to Southeastern Louisiana University is especially fitting," Moffett said. "We experienced tremendous enthusiasm from area football fans this past year as we brought Southeastern football back to Strawberry Stadium for the first time in 18 years. Hammond and the entire North Shore strongly supported the Saints during their training camp here years ago, and the Saints' football fan base remains as strong as ever in our community."

Ticket prices range from $20-$28, and include admission to all related activities - including the Black & Gold scrimmage. Discounts will be offered to Saints season-ticket holders.
