They all are deserve to be paid, but we all know that Brees is the engine that makes the Saints machine work.

I don't care if paying Brees hair-lips the Pope, PAY THE MAN!!

Bravo! Salary cap is NOT about one player, it is a pool and there are multiple parties that are NOT playing ball.

As I have tried to explain on this board many times, Condon represents Carl Nicks, as well. Condon surely knew that the Saints could not absorb a $24 million hit per year for the first three years of a contract. He did that to force the Saints to use the tag on Brees, thus letting his other client, Nicks, hit the open market.

A deal will get done.

Grow up, y'all. Get with the program. These things are not as simple as you might think.

I am ashamed to read this crap y'all are spouting with no clue how things work. Do you want to drive Drew away? Keep this **** up.

He has already leaked word that he feels confident a deal will be made. I'm sure that Condon wasn't happy about that.

Dammit, get with the program. Support the team and our QB. They will be together for years to come.

Thank You!

That being said, the MOST PRODUCTIVE QB in the NFL in the last three years should be the paid player ever. Period. Full stop.

These negotiations with Brees just like the strike negotiations over the summer are all played the same way. It is hard ball business plain and simple. Until "zero hour" one party will high ball and the other party will low ball.... They know if they give up just one inch too soon it will sway the final result if they meet in the middle.

Even if Drew were in total control of this situation I can never fault a man for trying to get every frikken last dollar he can for his family. The Saints are Loomis's business, the Bree's family is Drew's business.

Face facts. Bree's is our offense just like Manning was the offense for the Colts. Could our receivers do as well with any other QB? Probably not. Could Brees do as well with any other recievers? You bet your ass, he has made stars out of a lot of recievers in the last few years.

Probably because what Nicks wants and what Colston wants combined is still less than what the Saints offered Drew!

The question has been asked repeatedly about why people are calling Drew greedy....

Well, as I recall. During the Player Hold Out, Drew was in front of any and every reporter willing to listen to him. He was in the press so much that "Old Timers" were cussing him out. Now here we are a year later, Drew doesn't sign the richest contract of his career and why are there no interviews with Drew explaining ANYTHING?

"I feel a deal will be done soon"

How many times is that crap going to get regurgitated? This is not the 1970's where people have to wait until the 6 o'clock news comes on to find out what is going on in the world. This is an information age. A time where information is only a key stroke away.

Yet, still nothing from Drew on why HE, not his agent, Drew turned down that contract.

Why am I and other fans mad??????? Beacuse I, like many others; trusted that when he said he wants to keep the offense intact.... that he meant it. Well now we feel like we have egg on our face. Kind of reminds me when Nick Saban said LSU was his home and he was a Tiger. Then the very next week he is getting off a plane in Miami.

I loved this team before Drew was born. I loved this team before Drew came here. I will love this team when he is gone. The Saints mean more to me than Drew does. If you think that way of thinking cheapens my fanhood or love for the team.?.?.?.? You might need to re-evaluate your fanhood and love of this team.

Things I love no matter what.....

1. God/Jesus Christ
2. My family
3. My Country (Even with Obama as President)
4. LSU
5. New Orleans Saints

A lot of good and bad happen with the things I have listed above. But I stand beside each and every one of them. No matter what.

I find it hard to believe that Drew doesn't know what the Saints offered him.
And, I find it hard to believe that Condon "won't let" Drew sign the offer the Saints have offered. Brees is ON BOARD with Condon's demands.

Turning down an offer that makes you the HIGHEST paid QB in the NFL?

Drew, I think Condon got some funky voodoo on you that's messing with your brain.

Brees surprises with selfish turn

1. Selfish Brees

The Saints have big issues on their plate. How’s that for the understatement of the century?

But the selfishness of quarterback Drew Brees got swept under the rug this week. That’s a sentence I never thought I would write.

The New Orleans Saints are not cheap, as they have been wrongly portrayed in the media. They offered Brees a deal that would make him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. Although he isn’t the best quarterback in the NFL, Brees earned that salary, in the eyes of the New Orleans brass, with his play and leadership in New Orleans.

But being No. 1 wasn’t good enough for Brees. He insisted on more.

The Saints offered Brees more than the $18.5 million per season Tom Brady and Peyton Manning make (made in Manning’s case now). They offered him a $30 million signing bonus. New Orleans offered Brees the second-highest amount of guaranteed money in NFL history in the first three years of his deal. Brees didn’t ask for $20 million per season as a response to the New Orleans offer. He countered by demanding $23 million per season. The Saints and Brees are far apart.

The Saints’ offer remains on the table. New Orleans would love for Brees to sign it. Thus, New Orleans was left with no choice but to give Brees the franchise tag. Sadly, that means they couldn’t tag star guard Carl Nicks. As a result, he likely will get a bigger offer via free agency and leave. New Orleans still has to deal with receiver Marques Colston, receiver Robert Meachem and cornerback Tracy Porter. There is a realistic chance they could all go as free agents.

Brees represented a pied piper for the Saints after Hurricane Katrina. He had a chance to do that after “Bounty Gate.” New Orleans wanted to reward him for the past and honor him for the future. But Brees wanted more money. And it will hurt the Saints’ chances of winning.
