I'd trade him right now if the price were right if he doesn't want to sign the deal currently on the table and if he's planning to sit out rather than sign the franchise tag, but that's just me being stubborn.

While one would get crucified entertaining the thought, if someone offered me 3 first round picks and a bunch of other goodies... I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't pique my interest.

With that thought, it would dampen our chances significantly at making a serious title run within the next 3 years I would think. Smash does have a point though... Payton can turn the average quarterback good and a good one great. So with a improved defense, it could still be possible. It's not like Eli was elite when he won a Superbowl years ago.

I couldn't care less about Bress and how fat his pocket is. All I want is my Saints in the dome for the Superbowl. With that said if that means trading Bress so be it. I trust in Loomis and believe Payton is responsible for a lot of Drew's success. What worries me is they may face suspensions this year.

Being offered a contract to make you the highest payed player in the NFL and turning it down because you want $5 million more per year doesn't quite vibe with being unselfish.
