WhoDat!656 03-09-2012 08:42 PM

I never doubted him for a second!!

Now I want to hear him say something positive about his contract situation!

QBREES9 03-09-2012 09:06 PM

Mr Brees Hi QBREES 9 from the BlackandGold.com I have a question. It's 2 parts.

What the status with your contract. Is it true the Saints offered to make you the highest paid player in the league, and you turn them down twice can you talk alittle about that ?

and until you do Drew, really don't care what you have to say. Is someone mad or just doesn't care anymore. LOL

saintfan 03-09-2012 09:58 PM

He went on to say in an extended version of the statement:

" I would also like ask Pat Yasinskas, Peter King, John Clayton, and Kyle Turley to kiss my ass."

Marlboro Man 03-09-2012 10:09 PM

Whatever Drew. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in how this team and it's front office have handled the offseason as a whole, yourself included.

At this point, I doubt seriously that Saints fans will be seeing the playoffs for the forseeable future. Enjoy your money when you get it and think about it when you're flat on your back looking up at the Super Dome roof and the sky in the other stadiums you'll be getting the k-wrap knocked out of you in. Oh, BTW, Nicks says Hi.

RaginCajun83 03-09-2012 10:23 PM

I had a feeling he knew nothing about it, now sign your contract already

Well unlike you and some of these other bozo the clown posters, I for one care VERY MUCH what he has to say on this matter. He is after all an Executive Committee Member of the NFLPA.

This is BIG, folks. As James Varney reported today in the Times Picayune, the NFLPA is now conducting their OWN investigation into this matter. Basically to get to the bottom of it, and to demonstrate that Goodell and the league "rushed to judgement" and have thrown irresponsible and incendiary, uncorroborated material out there (leaking the 4-page memo to Peter King and all 32 teams etc) without having PROOF or facts -- the same stuff that we all have been griping and complaining about all week.

To our fans, please reserve judgment until the investigation is complete and the facts in their entirety are known. We are all working diligently to find the truth in this matter and if the facts prove there was improper behavior, we will hold ourselves accountable. Until that time, we will stand together and remain united as an organization.

The "investigation" he is talking about is the NFLPA investigation, NOT the league investigation.....the "we" is the PLAYERS' UNION, not him and Brit and the kids....they are officially fighting back....every involved Saints player who has spoken out so far -- McRay, Fujita, Sharper, and Hargrove by my last count - has specifically DENIED the "bounty" charges of wanting to intentionally hurt or injure a player. And adding Drew to that list is HUGE. Some of you people have "contract fever on the brain" and can't see the forest for the trees.

I feel comfortable in stating that I know well the integrity of our organization from the ownership level, to management, our head coach, and the players on our team.

Words have meaning... He only refers to them as "allegations" and "accusations and perceptions." And he SPECIFICALLY stands up PERSONALLY for the integrity of Tom Benson, Mickey Loomis, and head coach Sean Payton in this statement. He specifically does NOT mention or vouch for the integrity of Saints' former defensive coach, Gregg Williams. That's very important.

You didn't really think Drew was going to sit back and let Goodell and the media try and taint his Super Bowl, or destroy his team mates, his coach, and his future team, did you?

Whatever you think of him, or the contract situation, with this letter he is taking off the gloves and standing up for YOU and your team. This story is NOT over.

I agree. And personally...... I hope Goodell loses his job as commissioner. The NFL has gone down hill since he took over & nobody in the league likes his worthless a** anyway.

Well.....considering it was really between him & Gregg Levy & that Goodell had been groomed for this since his intern days under Pete Rozelle, they didn't really have much of a choice. That said......after the way he's handled the league, I think the owners are regretting that contract extension they gave him. This guy sucks!

dizzle88 03-10-2012 03:54 AM

That letter was a little bit pointless to be honest, I don't care about how "there's no place for that in the league etc" only thing I care about is - get your a$$ into the building and sign on the dotted line as we are being generous with our offers and also making other players restructure to make room for drews contract

If he were really upset about his offer, or planning on holding out of camp, would he have even released this statement? Particularly the parts commending the organization, the ownership and all that? Those don't sound like the words of a man who feels like he is getting short-changed to me.

CharityMike 03-10-2012 09:25 AM

Thank you Alex. Some people around here really need to step back and look at the big picture here. he released this statement to help ease our (the fans) minds on all this Bounty crap. Does anyone honestly think he can talk about his contract negotiations?? C'mon man.

I personally do feel a little better that the leader of our team and a executive member of the NFLPA is saying all this "bounty to hurt players" is bs.

As Alex pointed out, all the talk that he was pissed is obviously bs also. His deal will get worked out! Obviously Mickey is working his majic by restructuring and doing 1 year deals to free up some cash.

I am confident everything will get worked out. We may lose a few folks but it's part of the game. :bng:
