Rams expect to learn GW's fate this week

Rams expect to learn Gregg Williams
Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Rams expect to learn the fate of defensive coordinator Gregg Williams this week. Unless Goodell plans to hand out punishment in piecemeal fashion, this means that all of the other various sanctions on folks like Saints coach Sean Payton and G.M. Mickey Loomis and the Saints organization itself will come out this week, too.

Would not be surprised if he got suspended for the whole year. He has been doing this over a 4 team span and his punishment will be bigger than any one team im sure.

|Mitch| 03-11-2012 05:59 PM

I wonder how severe our punishment will be?

gandhi1007 03-11-2012 06:01 PM

Considering that GW was the defensive coordinator & has a history of doing this with several teams, he should get the most severe punishment of anyone involved.

I saw a video on one of the sports websites that said Payton could be suspended for the year.

If SP gets that, then GW should be banned for life from the NFL.

Euphoria 03-11-2012 06:45 PM

I just don't think it should be anything more than a year and even that could be the end of GW in the NFL.

I just don't think its as bad as it sounds.

ITs not like he killed dogs. Nor can I find anyone of significant that would warrant a bounty get hurt, nor was there to many illegal hits. If they were doing it for the extra dough there would be more penalties and serious injuries.

As much as I don't like him, I just find it hard to kick someone out of the NFL for this more than someone killing dogs and doing other illegal things...

Good thing that none of the pundits or do goobers have any say.

I just don't see that happening. Payton 4 weeks and or fine. Suspending Payton or Loomis doesn't hurt the Saints as a team and I don't think we should hurt as a team for one coach bring his garbage to run the D. They know who the one who should take the brunt of the penalty.

That being said.

Payton should do no more than 4 weeks and or fine.

If they take picks away thats just a way of the league making it looked like they did harm to us... honestly we can make that up in FA... not a big deal.

With so much they uncovered they do need to send letter to all teams and warn them that the next time expect penalties to be WAY harsh.

I also think one of the harsh penalties should go to Vilma. I think his penalty should be as harsh that it should make the team think of cutting him instead of carrying a roster spot for 10 weeks or so.

WhoDat!656 03-11-2012 07:04 PM

Vilma says he didn't make the offer.

QBREES9 03-11-2012 07:43 PM

Suspended for one year, and a million dollar fine.

Vilma has said nothing about nothing.

And he shouldn't.

Donte Stallworth killed a guy and only got a one year suspension...

ScottF 03-11-2012 08:44 PM

I hope its only 4 games, and that it sets the precedent for SP.
Fine the organization whatever you want- Benson has the money

Good point. I see GW spending a lot of time at home though.

saintfan 03-11-2012 09:22 PM

If Sean is suspended for the year I will seriously consider cancelling my DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket and NEVER WATCHING ANOTHER NFL GAME...and I'm not kidding.

The Saints didn't cheat. They didn't attempt to manipulate the outcome of the game or do anything to risk its integrity. I'm not kidding when I say I will shut down my meager participation.

thefifthwall 03-11-2012 10:23 PM

I think GW gets the "indefinite" suspension and can reapply after this year. This should appease the NFLPA. Don't see Payton or Loomis getting a lengthy suspension if any
I'm looking for a cap reduction with money going to NFLPA retired players maybe

Welcome to B&G!

I think Loomis Might get hit for a suspension and Peyton will miss a few games.I still expect to loose draft picks wether that will be from this year or next years aswell I don't know.
The league will want to make a point and will come down hard IMO.

Supertek 03-12-2012 07:04 AM

Agree with Saintsfan. Williams is out for the year. Payton 4 games and anything more than that just doesn't seem right. I hope the commish tempers his reaction to this like Saintsfan said they did not cheat they broke the rules plain and simple. I do not think it should stop with the Saints either or that is not justice. Whatever picks we lose if any certainly should not extend to next year. Need to fine Payton and Loomis directly for not putting a stop to this and letting that Williams have his way. Good ridance this man is gone. This is a far way from Spygate.
