Is it just me or is there something wrong with the New Orleans Saints head coach buying a $3.35 million house in Westlake, Texas?

Euphoria 03-11-2012 08:16 PM

Just you...

He resides in the Dallas area for over a year now.

I know. He was leasing Mark Texeira's old house. But why, when you work in New Orleans? Doesn't make sense.

He wants to be far away from the wife?
Mistress(es) in NO?

WhoDat!656 03-11-2012 08:23 PM

He said he liked the area when he was an assistant coach with Dallas.

Ahhh.......Now I see. :-P

|Mitch| 03-11-2012 08:28 PM

Didn't his wife not like New Orleans, and that's why he had the place in Texas for her?

WhoDat!656 03-11-2012 08:35 PM

I got so tired of that flock of chicken-littles wringing squawking like bleeding-heart liberals that Payton was going to suddenly be the HC of Dallas when JJ fired their last HC that I quit reading that thread!

VERY nice and exclusive area. Easy access to Dallas and Ft Worth. Great schools. I'd live there if I could - even if I worked in New Orleans.

But I bet his electric bill to keep 7000+ square feet cool in that blistering summer heat there is more than my monthly salary...before taxes...

Saint_LB 03-12-2012 08:26 AM

I think some people who have lived in NO or the NO area all their lives are not capable of thinking outside the box...or, stepping back and looking at the whole situation. In other words, can't see the forest because of the trees.

Believe it or not...some people, not from the area, mostly, do not aspire to live in NO for the rest of their lives, because, along with all the merriment and charm that the city has to offer, there are other factors that make it not as attractive...and some of them have nothing to do with the city itself.

One example would be the NO market...or lack-of. Endorsements are a big part of the business and people like coaches who have salaries not as high as the players, might just see the grass being greener in another city, like, say...Dallas?

No kidding, not to mention the property taxes, association fees, then all the travel. In a few years those cost are more than most of our homes.

SapperSaint 03-12-2012 09:05 AM

Maybe SP's wife has a "Sugar Daddy" in Texas....

xan 03-12-2012 09:15 AM

Be nice. Most of our players don't live in New Orleans, (or Louisiana) either. doesn't mean a thing.

SapperSaint 03-12-2012 09:18 AM

I'm sorry xan. I am tring my best to joke and be positive from now on.

He has kids rite? I'd buy my kids a disco (for the kids you know). They'd (we'd...ok, I'd) be up in there with the Bee Gees and KC and the Sunshine band going wide open...like Steve Martin in the Jerk. LOL

Halo 03-12-2012 12:55 PM

There are players and coaches on every NFL team who have homes and lives in other cities.

They live there in the offseason and commute. The Saints facility is 5 minutes from New Orleans International Airport and SP hops on a plane for a 1 hour flight (cheap) to Dallas.

I believe it's safe to say he has an apartment in the New Orleans area too.

I think he can afford it.

As for the Dallas Cowboys... would you want to coach for Jerry? I don't think SP wants to coach for him either.

Really! Is New Orleans not good enough for him & his family?

QBREES9 03-12-2012 10:58 PM

I don't think it's a question of good enough or not. It's just a choice.
Momma likes Texas. Sean likes momma to be happy.
When momma's happy, poppa can do his thing whithout all the ...
He's definitely got the money to make those kind of choices.
A few extra bucks for the commute to keep momma happy is WORTH IT!
Family's in NOLA all summer and every other home game weekend.
Livin the dream Mater Boy!

Probably not as much as you think. The house is made of stone. Stone keeps much cooler inside.
