Meachem Rumor

So, I refuse to link back to ESPN ever again. Rumor is he's headed to the Bills or Bucs.

If true, step up Arrington. Now or never son.

papz 03-13-2012 03:22 PM

Hopefully he succeeds wherever he goes. Would love to have him back... but he needs to go and get his.

jcp026 03-13-2012 03:24 PM

Good luck to him. This is Arrington's big chance, assuming there are no trades, signees, or draft picks to deal with.

i hope he goes to Buffalo not the Bucs, if not back here with the saints ... link:

Clayton also has some news on another receiver. That’s New Orleans’ Robert Meachem. He’s on his way to Buffalo. After re-signing Marques Colston, the Saints are unlikely to bring back Meachem, who also could be a potential target for the Bucs.

Mario Williams, Meachem to visit the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday night | ProFootballTalk

Hopefully we've learned our lesson and will never break rule #8, again...

Never take a wide receiver from University of Tennessee in the first round

LivnaLieTimay 03-13-2012 03:39 PM

Not surprising with the Colston signing, can't bring everyone back. We still have a deep threat in Henderson and need to improve the defense.

TheEnigma 03-13-2012 03:51 PM

I think Meachem will be gone. He is a good player, but he never lived up to his 1st round status.

Pete 03-13-2012 04:00 PM

I'm tired of these first round picks that don't produce/blow up like they're expected to.I backed Meachem the whole way and he did help us win quite a few with his big plays.Him having to sit out a season to get up to speed was frustrating.
That being said, I want a superstar with our 2013 first round pick even if it's @ pick 32!
I'd take him back all day being WE'VE went through the growing pains while waiting on his development. If he goes then so be it but don't draft a first round reciever again that can't be an immediate contributor Mickey.

Cruize 03-13-2012 04:15 PM

He has the skills. But, he never was as productive as a reciever with his skills should be in the Saints offense.

darstep 03-13-2012 04:15 PM

Show me a guy who doesn't catch with his hands, and I'll show you a guy that we can do without. I like Meachem, when he catches with his hands, and that's mostly in practice during catching drills. Once the real action starts he reverts back to that bread basket, cuddle the baby thing that leaves me hoping he can use his knees and thighs to keep that thing from falling out while he's falling down. Henderson does the same thing. These guys are in receiver heaven, and I understand that the money normally doesn't come around again. If he has to have it, and we can't give it to him, then he has to go, and I wish him all the best. I take comfort in knowing that our open spots are in high demand for most receivers in the league who are looking for a place to display their talents, even if they have to do it at a loss.

Luda34 03-13-2012 04:28 PM

I wish the guy the best of luck. It not likely he will be back in black and gold.

Chargers focus on Meachem, Robinson with Jackson on way out | ProFootballTalk

Rugby Saint II 03-13-2012 09:44 PM

I always thought he was unreliable. You never knew just which ball he was going to drop. His hands have gotten better but it took him this long to do it.

alexonfyre 03-13-2012 09:51 PM

I hope Meachem gets a featured job somewhere out of the division. I've always thought he was better than how he was used for us. I don't think we could have used him any better either, though, that was just how he fit into Sean's playbook.

I want to see Meach go out there and blow it up like he has the potential too, getting 8+ targets a game from someone like Phil Rivers or Fitz.

QBREES9 03-13-2012 11:33 PM

I said it before it's cold up there. Really Cold.

NOLA54 03-13-2012 11:56 PM

He just signed with the Chargers.
