Specialist said there were no bounties in 2011

Specialist who worked closely with New Orleans Saints said there were no bounties in 2011

In one of the highest-profile accusations ever leveled against a franchise, the NFL has said the New Orleans Saints for the past three years employed a diabolical system that paid cash bonuses to defensive players who injured opponents. For at least one-third of that stretch, however, the NFL is wrong, and no such bounties were ever in place, according to a physical and behavioral specialist who spent virtually the entire 2011 season with the Saints working closely with former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and his staff.

I bet Peter King writes the article finding a way to make us look bad...

I wonder what is the truth. Are the Saints being set up and have those interviewed, during the NFL's invsetigation lied? It sounds like the term bounty is incorrectly being used. Will the NFL report be made public?
Especially if Goodell issues penalties that have never been issued in the history of the NFL. What about an appeals process? Will there be any recourse for false prosecution? I hope Goodell has his facts straight because the reprecussions and fallout from this could impact the NFL in way that as never been seen before.

There is truth in the story.

The problem is that people are making it too black and white.

Was money offered? Probably.
Was money paid? Maybe.

Ever stood in a locker room where your teammate asks for another players head (figuratively)? Well this is the same thing. Only it's the BIG BOYS now. And they can DO something about it. And that's what has writers like Peter King salivating over the opportunity to make headlines.

"oohhh, the big-bad, mean, players who are out to hurt offensive players, they need to be STOPPED!! This is an outrage - there's no room for any of this in the new NFL

Notice how not one writer has mentioned offensive bounties in all this? Yeah, that would be some real cutting-edge journalism, not just pile-on writing...

Another problem. There's no record of it (to this point) and Peter King wasn't anywhere near a locker room when it was supposedly stated. But that's the world we live in - proof is not required to make headlines anymore. It's all "un named sources close to the organization".

The Saints organization and GW will be made an example of well, because that's the NFL we live in now.

We'll lose a pick either this year or next (1st rounder) and the season will start.

All big hits this entire season will be scrutinized and questioned as "bounty hits" (causing me to roll my eyes and curse). The number of fines for big hits will increase over last year. More suspensions are sure to follow. Fans will make witty cardboard signs and james harrison will tweet endless nonsense until he is again the center of attention (roll eyes, curse again).

This will be all but forgotten (like Starcaps) until any further action is taken upon players who (supposedly) took part in the bounty. My guess - no players suspended or fined.

In the end this will all fade away into the lore of football past this is the grainy video clips of Buddy Ryan being a complete A hole.

Damn!

I was actually convincing my self that our inability to tackle was because they were trying to hurt someone.

Now it seems we really cant tckle.

Ruined my day!

Begs the question why would GW come out and apologize for it if it never existed in the first place?

I think you guys are missing a key point to all of this.

The article claimed there was 'pay for performance'. THAT IS ILLEGAL but the rule. Bounty or not the Saints are...

GUILTY!

Granted just about every team and every Defensive player to ever play the game. That doesn't make it right.
