I SMELL IMPLOSION

There.

I said it.

This is ridiculous. And go ahead and call me ridiculous but I'm the only realist here if that's the case.

Alaska

FinSaint 03-14-2012 03:10 PM

Why?

Alaska I feel you a little Nicks will be missed but if we sign Grubbs I feel we will be ok. Now Meahem leaving I don't think will hurt use to much. I'm waiting to see what's going to happen with this bounty crap that's what scarys me.

Maverick2299 03-14-2012 03:18 PM

I am going to have to call ridiculous, since you provide no reason for implosion.

Brees will get a contract done, or play with the tag....a player who skips takes huge hits under the new CBA.

Losing Nicks was going to happen, it was wishful thinking to think he would be back.

Even if the saints don't sign Grubbs the offense will still be very good. Under Sean the saints have been number 1 in O, except for two years were they were 4 and 6.

lynwood 03-14-2012 03:29 PM

Can't keep everyone.
It was smart to Tag Brees while they still work on a contract. Not really sure what the hell Brees is asking for but some money should be clear now.

RockyMountainSaint 03-14-2012 03:33 PM

C'mon, it's been a long winter and you have seen 48 hrs of daylight total in the last 4 months.
Cabin fever?

TheEnigma 03-14-2012 03:40 PM

Wait until we sign Ben Grubbs. You will feel better after that.

Alaska

im·plo·sion (m-plzhn)
n.
1. A violent collapse inward, as of a highly evacuated glass vessel.
2. Violent compression.
3. The inward collapse of a building that is being demolished in a controlled fashion by the weakening and breaking of structural members by explosives.

Alright, I assume you are using the first definition. The Saints have let the top OG in free agency go for an amount that was clearly not reasonable. They appear to have the inside track at picking up the 2nd best FA OG to replace him at a much lower price. I see that as a win.

The Saints kept Marques Colston while letting Meachem, their #5 reciever behind Colston, Graham, Moore and Henderson go elsewhere. This will allow Adrian Arrington to step into that role for a fraction of the price. I see that as a win.

Drew Brees was given the tag to hold him in place until everything else is taken care of. At that time they will work out the very best long term deal they can afford until the remaining cap.

The team will get hit by the loss of some draft choices and various fines which will not affect the product on the field to any material point. The coach may get a suspension, but it will be more prepared for than the time he missed to the broken leg last year.

I'm sorry but none of this approaches a violent collapse given the Saints will still be the best team in the NFC South

Relax and enjoy the ride.

:bng:

#6 receiver

You (grossly) omitted Sproles

Only because you included Graham (TE)

The only thing there is that if SP is suspended he can't be involved in the game planning, which he was heavily involved in while he had the broken leg this past season.

Nothing that would warrant a collapse.

You are ridiculous. And you also don't know what "realist" means.

Agreed, but I thought I'd just put it out there.

If suspended, Payton will just double down and plan for two weeks, or three.
The planning meetings follow the same cadences.
They will hear his voice even if he's not in the room.

Tobias-Reiper 03-14-2012 04:04 PM

Hmm...

When LeCharles Bentley left:
"OH MY GOD! Who is going to replace Bentley? What is the FO thinking!?!?! We are doomed!!! Fire everyone!!!!"
What happened? Jeff Faine got signed. No issues.

When Jammal Brown left:
"OH MY GOD! Who is going to replace Brown? What's the FO thinking?!?!? We are doomed!!! Fire everyone!!!"
What happened? Bushrod took his place. No issues.

When Jeff Faine left:
"OH MY GOD! Who is going to replace Faine? What is the FO thinking!?!?! We are doomed!!! Fire everyone!!!!"
What happened? Goodwin took his place. No issues.

When Goodwin left:
"OH MY GOD! Who is going to replace Goodwin? What is the FO thinking!?!?! We are doomed!!! Fire everyone!!!!"
What happened? After a shot at Kreutz, DLP took over, and the Saints were good to go.

As for Coach Payton getting suspended (IF he gets suspended) for a couple weeks:
"OH MY GOD! Who is going to call the plays? What is the FO thinking!?!?! We are doomed!!! Fire everyone!!!!"
Well, didn't the Saints had the same drill last year when Payton was "suspended" from coaching by a late hit on Jimmy Graham (which wasn't call BTW) who ended up rolling on Payton's leg?

.. and of course:
After Katrina hit New Orleans:
"OH MY GOD! The Saints are leaving for San Antonio!! We are doomed!!! Fire everyone!!!!"
What happened?

We can hire Bill Bellichick to set up a video-conference!

Danno 03-14-2012 04:46 PM

we're two freaking days into free agency.

I smell drama queen.

Srgt. Hulka 03-14-2012 04:53 PM

That's alright Alaska, I don't have a real easy feeling about this whole thing either. Hang in there though.

Alaska we'll be alright! Our OC is about to prove he's more than capable at play calling. And no matter what we get slapped with we will field essentially the same team as last year when we went 13-3. I do believe that we will bring some high powered defense to the field with a few changes and a new DC. Have faith my friend. If we sign Grubbs we'll be fine. Grab a sun lamp and get a little sunshine it does wonders for the soul.

And you relax too, Sarg. Before you know it we'll be planning to meet down in New Orleans again in January for another home playoff game. And don't forget, you owe me a drink.

:-D

Implosion? if we sign Dreessen, he'll fill all our problems. Seriously, at the end of the day.... we're gonna sign some.... we're gonna lose some...you just have to believe in your GM and trust he's gonna do all he can to keep the wheel's on the bus. Do ya think we planned on losing Nick's? that we'd have to tag Brees? Hell no! but sh*t happens.. we have the best GM in the game, have a glass of Johnnie's Blue label, good cigar and relax. All will be well!

Please explain to me how signing a TE will "fill all our problems?"

Also, I can't afford Blue Label. :-(

I'm notoriously bad at detecting sarcasm and equally bad at using it myself, so please don't use my reaction as a yardstick. ;-)

bobdog86 03-14-2012 08:36 PM
